Not to sound like a jerk (because I'm not trying to), but what does that have to do with your engine build? I'm just curious.

Sorry, its way back there, but some of the people out there on the interwebz gave me some money to put towards this build. I couldn't take it without donating something to a real meaningful charity, so I compromised and said I'd donate 25%. That happened today.

Still somewhat ashamed to have received money from people at all, but at least some went to a meaningful cause.

Update: may have a motor ready for pickup on Monday. Will know this Friday. Hope so, as I could grab it with the race trailer coming back from the WC race in Sonoma.

The hood is in covina still, I didn't catch Tiger Racing in time before they took off with their trailer. Should be able to pick that up as well at the same time.

Ordered some more parts, bought a competition pulse ring and slave cylinder from Tousley (killer price on the pulse ring).

Still have to order a set of jegs cat deletes and a pillar pod from speed of sound.

Now if I can just find a truck to borrow for a couple days, I can go claim my motor and hood this weekend. I don't think I'll be able to install the motor this weekend, but I can get it on a stand, check it over, assemble as much of it as possible, and be standing by for the pulse ring and slave. If I can afford the scratch, I might also order a JHR clutch line and shifter bracket.

So close! I bet you're pretty excited. I know I am!

I know the motor is as far as getting the timing gear installed. However, there were kinks in my existing chains (which probably coincides with the exhaust cam over-retard code thrown when the motor let go). Figured play it safe and buy new chains. Assuming they have those on hand in Cali, the motor could be done by end of day.

Another holdup is the oil-pan. They're not back from fabrication, and still need to go to powdercoating before being released to me. I'm hoping that happens today, as I'd like to get this all at once versus shipping some.

Then its just a matter of the CJ trigger ring and slave cylinder showing up. I think I'll have to buy some plugs too, but I imagine I can grab those locally (along with an oil cap for the driver's VC).

Gah, still no word on a pan, and the timing chains were backordered*

Tuesday-Wednesday is the updated timeline, you can damn well bet I'm going to get it the minute its ready since I want the whole weekend to install and fire this thing up.

Also bought a stack of small parts:
fuel rail pads, sparkplugs, cheap dino-oil for break-in, ATE supa-blu, jegs cat deletes (sorry to everyone's ears), oil cap (lol, had forgotten that one), and am hunting a JHR clutch line.

At this point, I should have literally everything to install this next weekend sans updated tuning which is fast turnaround.

*until Tousley ford was involved, and was able to overnight 2 in-stock chains for less than half what the local camarillo dealer was quoting MMR

Glad to hear you'll have it soon and Tousley can't be beat on factory parts and some of the ford racing parts. They are local to me so its super easy for me to get parts.

Pickup in LA- tomorrow.

Install in Phoenix, bright and early Saturday morning. I'll be posting updates on facebook ( /captdistraction ) and try to post on here as well. Going to shoot a timelapse with my gopro from the hood of the car so that should be interesting.

It might be a bit premature to bring out Rob Ryan, but I can't help it:

had my ass kicked by this project today, need to order the following:

Dipstick, tube, and fitting for the valvecover
a new CHT sensor
knock sensor harness isn't part of the main harness.

Can't get the motor to engage the input shaft on the transmission, but will continue tomorrow.

Here's some pics from today, and yes, the oil pan is painted pink (there's a long story behind it, but for later. In short, my friends have a twisted sense of humor):
