Hey guys.
Got a universal oil catch can from Amazon ($40)
And decided yesterday to install it after getting 14mm id hose..
I used the unused tab coming off the strut tower.
I drilled and tapped threads for a bolt.
I cut and drilled two bars with holes on each end and fasten them with bolts.
Bent a lip up ,,,and drilled two holes for the catch can to mount on the one end of the one bars..
Used spacers to get the height I wanted...
Loosened the bolt and swung the catch can on the angle I wanted...
Set the hose lines as good as I could before tightening down the catch can mount at the degree I do desired..
Quick took plastic wrap and coverd as much as I could but the bars and spacers I just made.. and hot them with black spray paint quick..

I was gonna use the OEM ends .. but I didn't like how the hose was almost kinked

The way you have it set up is fine. Don't use the filter with a closed pcv system. Now if you wanted to you could remove the pcv valve, run both sides to the catch can, plug off the intake ports, and run the filter. It would be like running breathers instead. Or could of went with just breathers. But your set up is the ideal if you want to keep the system intact. Nice job.

Personally. I've always opted for breathers. One on each cover and the 710 cap.

I have the JLT catch cans. Billet with screens and o-ring screw-in cans for easy check/empty. I'd take a picture but they're in a box right now while I do stuff on the car.

This catch can/breather works. I have zero oil in the plenum because there is no connection to the intake system. Both valve covers are connected without a check valve. I know the crankcase is vented freely because no oil is forced out through any seals or gaskets.

it was my understanding that the catch cans should be as close to the intake and valve cover for optimal results ?
this is why i put mine where i did,, i read on a fourm page the farther away , the less efficient it is?
i dont know for sure ,, but that again is why i did mine so close,,, yours looks like it goes all over ..
but i guess you arent having issues with that setup ?

I'm not sure I have the correct answer but it would seem logical to me that if the catch can is further away from the crankcase, there's more time for oil vapors to drop out of suspension and fall to the bottom of the catch can before they go further on their way towards the intake manifold.

I think it was a YouTube video that was using different catch cans and I'm pretty sure he said something along the lines of keeping it close ..
I'm not sure tho.
Others are using them further away and not having issues. So that's that .
I guess I more or less said it to see if anyone else saw the video or knew the science behind it

Perhaps this is more clear. Each valve cover has its own connection to the vented Moroso tank. The left side runs behind the engine out of view. The right side can be seen. There is no airflow through this system beyond what leaks past the rings. No vacuum or draft is pulled through the crankcase be the intake. Just like what 07 Boss is accomplishing with his breathers.
I tried 3 different PCV catch can setups before throwing them in a box and running a vent. I found the expensive billet cans with short quick connect hoses that are so popular don’t do a bit of good. Oil still makes its way to the intake manifold. The better designed cans that have a separator chamber work better but eventually oil ends up in the intake. Some folks put a catch can on both valve covers and still run the PVC connection to the intake manifold? Kinda goofy when the vacuum connection pulls draft in one direction.

I have had thoughts of removing the filter vent from the Moroso can. Closing the can with a fitting and installing a vacuum pump and doing a before and after Dyno run. Does crankcase vacuum benefit a street engine?

I just redid mine at the end of winter- have had this Mishimoto catch can for several years but didn't like my previous setup (used the fabric braided hose but the top one was almost straight and it allowed the engine to push/pull on the can, kept loosening the bolts on the mount), so I decided to gussy it up a bit. Used some cheap braided hose and fittings from ebay. No vacuum leaks so far!

i love the lines you have and fittings.. but with all do respect,I absolutely hate where the placement of yours is...
I feel like it could be placed better and end fittings maybe a bit different .

I added a C&L to my 2010 GT. I have the factory strut brace and no tab on the shock tower, so I had to go the firewall. I just took a plastic pop rivet out of the cowl area and bolted it in.

Well, respectfully, I hate the placement of yours. Too close to the engine and the lines are too short. I didn't really want mine on the engine, and where it is mounted the hoses are long enough to absorb some of the engine movement without pushing on the mount and loosening the bolts.

To each his own :nixon:
