Got my drivers' license in 1961, after already having a few years of practice (don't ask) I grew up with drag racing (street) and autocrossing. Won the State Championships at the Plymouth Troubleshooting Contest, and have been a gearhead my whole life. Have a race boat that still holds three APBA world records. Those cars back then were the best that they could be, but today's sedans could run with those oldies, so goes progress. Back then, we never gave a thought to the muscle era coming to a nearly grinding halt, but it did. Today's equipment is so far advanced in every way. This is probably the second coming of "the good old days", so enjoy every minute of it. I still love getting on the track on driver days but I know my reflexes aren't as quick. Luckily, tech advances help me keep the "rubber side down". Enjoy every day and make lots of great memories and have lots of stories to tell your grandchildren!
