They are using adjustable spring perches with probably 2.5" springs. I'm not sure of the rates, probably 600F/225R was the last I heard. The rear springs are NOT spring over shock though.

I believe they moved from spring over shock to perches for the exact reason of tire clearance.

Well he hasn't released what the ultra secret automatic height adjusting coilovers are based on so I'm going by the Moton Club Sports he had before...

I'm also not sure that running coilovers in the rear increases tire clearance... probably the exact opposite unless they are relocating the axle mounting point somehow.

After taking a good look underneath my car, I was pretty sure they must have been running the springs on the axle. Do you have to weld up a smaller diameter seat in the upper spring pocket, or will the stock pocket work correctly? I'm guessing that a typical circle-track adjustable spring seat can be used on the axle side to set ride height and corner weight.

FWIW the Steeda sport springs use a 2.5" Hypercoil 175lbs/in coil over spring and I don't have issues and I'm sure that most of the aftermarket coil over kits don't provide any other upper spring perches for the pockets.

I thought that when they switched to Motons that they were set up as eyelet to eyelet on the shocks and they switched one eyelet to a pin so that they could run the springs on the axle.

this is correct. My KW springs sit just fine between the upper spring perch and the axle and they're 61mm/2.5" springs

So any 2.5" spring should drop in to the stock perches then? I think I have a 2.5" spring height adjuster in a box somewhere from another project that would work underneath, I just need to mock it up.

You may need to make a seat for the adjustable perch. The axle has a beveled edge and even Vorshalg sells one with their ASTs to fit an adjustable perch onto the axle.

Ok, thanks. It looks like I'm running out of excuses for procrastinating on pulling the rear end! Add new perches to the tube-weld and c-clip elimination I've been planning.

sorry DTL, i forgot to include the detail that zquez mentioned. You'll need a (most likely threaded) perch for the bottom. I don't think a 2.5" spring will sit on the axle correctly

Actually a 2.5" spring sits perfectly around the rubber isolater on the axle. As I said before, the Steeda Sport's rear spring is a 175lb/in 2.5" Hypercoil coilover spring (not sure on the length sorry) and it doesn't use any fancy spring perches. The bump on the rubber isolater is 2.5" in diameter so those 2.5" springs fit on them very well.

Has anybody looked to see if there's room in the trunk, above the upper spring pocket for an adjuster to come through? I did a setup like that in my drag car with an adjustable upper pocket. All you had to do was jack up the rear enough to unload the spring, lean in the trunk and turn the adjuster (basically like you see the NASCAR guys do during pit stops. It was way overkill for that application, but made scaling and corner weighting the car very simple.

Call Ground Control...they have an adjustable rear perch...that's what I use.

So Tire Rack shows the availability of the Rival in June and the BF Goodrich site says Winter of 2013. Anyone else heard anything different? I want these tires but need to know when they are available.

Whatever TireRack says, they are exclusive retailer for the Rival. Expected delivery does vary from size to size.

$1148 for a set of 275's is right on par with Yokohama ad08's and re11's....and the rest of the extremes.

So yeah, they're not cheap but they are right there with other decent tires. And cheaper than the purple crack. The goodyears are inordinate amounts of money.
