I've been following this build for a while now and I wanted to say you've done an excellent job! A lot of your exploits have been an inspiration and hopefully ours turns out as nice as this one.

Just an update: The car will be getting a built shortblock over the winter. I am doing a stock crank, boss rod, saleen/CP piston build with 9.4:1 compression. Stock head, cam, intake for now. As far as I know I am the first running this combo on here so it will be interesting to see the results. I am just shooting for 600-650 reliable hp on pump gas. The lower compression should allow me to run 15-16 psi and make my goal. I just ordered the pistons and should have them next week sometime. I will update the thread as I go and post questions along the way as well.

You might want to discuss your ideas with your tuner. My tuner is very fond of higher compression in these mod motors. I think it will be much easier to meet your goal with higher compression. My short block is a 9.8-1 compression plus I have stage 3 ported heads which will bump it up slightly from there.

To expand on my earlier post, you aren't going to be anywhere close to your goal with those numbers. I'm currently pushing 12psi on a stock motor with stock heads and I'm at 505hp. You aren't going to get another 150hp with 3-4 more lbs of boost and you'll lose hp by dropping compression. I can see hitting 550 but you're not hitting 600 with the build as you've planned it.

Thanks guys! The car has already made over 500 on 9 lbs. Even if it picks up an additional 20 hp per lb of boost I add it will be at the 620 range. It has already picked up 200 hp on 9 psi. I'm also only spinning it to 6200 and with the built motor it can see 6800 or so. According to Jeremy from S&H a change in compression will only change in maybe 30 hp compared to a 11:1 motor. With this lower compression I will also be able to run more boost on pump gas without having to move to E85. If it doesnt make the numbers I want I can just give it a little more boost, plus the tune will be more aggressive with this motor than my current one

Its going to be a race to see who gets done first. I just ordered the same rods and plan a very similar build but with higher comp and e85. Should be fun for both of us LOL.
