Warranty Question

So I want to upgrade my new Roush Stage 2. I don't want to do anything major until I install a Roush TVS blower. That won't be for a while. I still have the remaining factory warranty as well as the platimum bumper to bumper refundable, transferrable warranty.

The first thing I want to install is the Ford Racing Cobra Jet intake manifold. I am going to order it through the dealer where I bought the car and have them install it. Will my warranty remain intact by having Ford order the intake manifold and installing it?

I REALLY do not want to void my warranty.

I would think that you'd retain the warranty. Why though? You'll take it off when you go TVS anyway. I'd do headers before I'd do the intake. They can only void the warranty if it directly caused the issue.

I wouldn't but anything ur gonna take off when u got tvs. Especially that expensive manifold.

It will probably be a couple of years before I get the TVS. I am sure I could sell the manifold easily. I really wish the SC kits werent so friggin expensive. My daughter is almost driving age, so I have to wait for the SC until after we get her a car, which is like 1.5 years.

What will you do in terms of a tune after the manifold is installed?

I always found it kind of funny that Ford Motorsports sells these Cobra Intakes but doesn't offer a tune for it. Instead they say you need to use a third party tune which under most circumstances DOES void the engine warranty.

Its my understanding that when you buy Motorsports parts and have them installed by the dealer then the warranty remains in tact but these Intakes seem to throw a monkey wrench into that theory.

You can't install that intake without an aftermarket tune. Also that intake without other supporting mods like cams and headers isn't going to gain you any performance so you would just be pissing your money away.....

That's an urban legend. It's covered in the FRPP catalogue.

Not sure what you mean by urban legend? I read the page you listed and it is referring to vehicle emissions which is a whole other matter altogether.

I'm talking about putting an a third party tune on your car in general that is not provided by Ford.

Are you saying you can put a BAMA tune or one of the other flavors of tunes on the market on your car then take it into the dealer after something breaks and they won't try and void your warranty if they feel the damage was the result of the non Ford programing its using?

Not even close.

Just because a dealer puts a part on doesn't mean it's covered by Ford. That's the urban legend I'm talking about.

EDIT: If you reread the warning you will see the warranty info or lack of a warranty after installing the parts.
