So I mentioned about a week ago that my door resealing on the driver's side only lasted about five months, and since the passenger side is fine I attributed it to the window going up and down and compromising the foam until it allowed a leak. So since it only took six bucks and a small amount of time I resealed it, although a couple of the fastener retainers were not catching the threads. I figured 8 out of 10 ain't bad so I snugged them best I could and grabbed extras from the junkyard if there ended up being an issue. So a rainy week later the leak is back. With little else going on I found a junkyard piece of weatherstrip, pulled it apart, swapped out the compromised retainers (ended up being five in total) and put in the new-to-me weatherstrip.
But here's the thing: when the door seals go bad in this car, since it drips down a trim panel in the back seat, it pools the rear carpet and then works its way forward as it floods. These leaks however, are damp under the front floor mat, under the driver seat and the rear carpet almost equally, and as you drive it all ends up in the back. The opposite of the usual door seal leak. Anyone have any ideas? TIA preesh.
Note: the car is parked all week when this happens, so it's not coming in from a hole underneath etc while driving thru rain, puddles etc
