Thinking about placing an order soon...

  • Chemical Guys Lava
  • 128oz MicroRestore
  • UTTG
  • 128oz FK 425

Have you used the microrestore before? I was thinking about ordering it but I wasn't sure if it was just good marketing over a dye/scent free detergent.

I got a lot of other stuff that I have bought from autozone like MFs, glass cleaner, rim cleaner, etc. I'm gonna use up all that before i start replacing it.

Seer and NastyStang are the guys that I've observed, read their posts, and asked questions and they have been really good about helping. I had to completely rethink my detailing after talking with them. Most of what I had been doing was wrong, and that became more evident when I started to use quality products with the proper techniques. After experimenting with a bunch of MF's from Autozone, I recommend making them wheels towels. There is a HUGE difference in MF quality. Start with replacing those, IMO. I tried a bunch of QD and after talking with Seer, went with FK425. Its good stuff. I use the CG Sasquatch MF to apply it. BFWD is ok. Im now leaning towards CG Blacklight with CG Lava over it, mainly because Seer recommended it. I like to try new things and I dont always like everything people recommend here, but I usually do. Read this entire post. Thats how I started in my education of products. Helped alot.

Yeah, they definetly know their stuff about detailing. I've read ALOT of their posts so far, but haven't talked to them directly cause I didn't wanna bother them with my, "is this wax better than this?" or "what do you think about this?" haha. But as far as the Autozone MFs, really? I just thought a microfiber is a microfiber. I'll definetly check those MFs out on CG .

One of the first things I did was try different MF's to see if there was a difference and I was floored. If you choose the wrong one, you are doing more harm then good. I personally like a lot of the pakshak MF's.

Where are you in WV? I'm just a bit north of Pittsburgh and sometimes do free detail clinics up this way for fun.

As far as waxes, sealants and nanos go. It all depends on your budget, what youre trying to accomplish and what look you're going for.

Right now for under $100 waxes, CG Lava and Zymol Glasur are really difficult to beat.

Under $50, Zymol Carbon. If protection is key to you, look into products like AQuarz and Opti-coat.

With microfibers, if you can buy them in a parts store or target, keep them to door jambs, wheels and interior duty only.

Pittsburgh isn't too to far away from me, I live in Martinsburg, which is a little more close to D.C. . Since I already ordered BFWD, can I put that on, then CG Lava ontop since it's a wax? Or is that just a weird mixture? My knowledge to waxes and sealants were little to none, just a few weeks ago.

CG Lava is a newer product type. It is a very durable wax, with a glaze built into it. It's been tested to surface temperatures up to 300F.

Here are some tips. A sealant must always bond to a bare surface, so you cannot apply it over a wax. Sealants like BFWD usually last about 6-8 weeks, sometimes longer depending on conditions. After that time frame is over, you will need to strip the car and start over.

Good toppers for BFWD would be Blackfire Midnight Sun Carnauba Wax, Zymol Carbon, Zymol Glasur. Just about any decent boutique wax will compliment it well.

Blackfire Wet Diamond by itself gives off a nice shine in it's own, but at the end of the day, it still is a sealant.

I'm toying with ordering either of these:

CG's Lava or Wolfgang's Fuzion

Can anyone give me some advice here? I've not used either one, but heard good stuff about both. It'll be going on Ingot Stang and an Ingot Focus.

They are both good products, although CG Lava is newer and has been known to get great durabilitly while imitating a wax in appearance.

Wolfgang Fuzion also a good hybrid wax, tends to look more like a sealant.
