You could easily do a 285/40/18 on that rim. Its a little taller than the 275/40. You could run a 45 but I dont know what width is available.

285/40 is meant to go on a 10 wide rim, but is fine on a 9.5...it is the stock rear size for the gt500 18x9.5 wheels

there's a few guys running 295/45/18's....those are pretty tall. those should still work on a 9.5 rim
That's what I run on a 18x10. It should fit a 18x9.5 well also, just have a bit of spillage over the sides. But it's a nice tall, beefy tire.

Here are a couple of close-ups of a 305/45/18 on a 10" rim. you can see a little bulge but not too bad. A 305 is about 12" of tread width so I have about an inch on each side of the rim. I don't think I would go much more than that 'cause the handling can get a little sloppy. A 285 on a 9.5" rim is good and as wide as I would go.

Yes, I do. :) Here's the 295/45/18 on a 18x10. Pretty tall tire at 28.5" compared to stock 27" tires. But fill up the wheel well pretty good. I'm lowered in the back about .8" with Roush springs, but can't tell since the tires are so tall.

I've got a set of 305/40s ordered in the Nitto 555 DRs, a little stickier, and only 27.6" tall, so will lower the back end back down a little.

Here is a good side shot of a 295/45/18 on a 18X10 with the car dropped 1.25 inches in the rear.
