What's on your obsolete parts list for s197?

Yesterday someone on the s197 fb group was looking for a thermostat housing for an 05-06 GT and said he'd looked everywhere; having a background in auto parts I was determined to track one down but indeed nope. A group member ended up having one to sell him.

That made me wonder how many challenges one might expect to face keeping these cars going. I know there's a lot of talk about planned obsolescence to try and get everyone into '27 and newer for the facial scan tech.

My challenges so far have been a body control module (found on ebay; since it was not the issue I'm not even sure it's any good) and the door seals (fixed cheaply with a/c weatherstripping). And finding this guy's housing for him (I have an '07 with the updated design).

What challenges have you run into? TIA

Door seals can be found at various venders if I’m not mistaken…

The coolant crossover is hard to find new, but there should be no shortage of finding them at junkyards.

I was able to mind the pedal assembly pretty easily…

Seems like we are still in luck for most big items for a while.

Industry standard. 10 yr planned support ends up to be ~20 years as part stock gets depleted.

I am hopeful that the S197 is enough of an "old school" platform that there will be ways to keep these cars going into the future. The SJB is going to be the big one a lot of people run into though I think.. I looked at mine yesterday doing the blend doors and it's spotless thank God..

I was looking for a trans harness for mine only to find they were not available. I ended up de pinning the connector and covering the bare wires with shrink tube.
As far as I can tell the trans fluid was dissolving the insulation on the wires. This harness also includes the Oxygen Sensor wiring

Mine is usable but have removed from car for a different trans so I no longer need.

AS soon as I loose my Junior member status i will post items i have for sale,
Apparently being a member for 1.5 years is not long enough to post in for sale section.
