Widest rear tire for a 20" wheel???

I am planing to put some FR500 black chrome 20" tires on my 2009 GT.

20x8.5 on front and 20x10 in the rear. It is 36mm offset on front and 45mm for the rear wheels. I want them for daily drive because i have my stock 17" for weekend drag.

I am just looking for that mean look on the rear tires but i keep finding negative post of some wheel and tire combos. My car will be lowered 1.5 inches with Ultralight Steeda springs or whatever other brand i decide that lower my car 1.5.

I just want to make sure i get the widest rear tire on my car without having tire clearance issues in the future.

Make sure you have an adjustable pan hard bar to align and center the rear equally.

Have you thought about the same wheels in 18s? You have some real nice tire options. Go for the race car look (slammed,thin profile) or meaty (295/45/18s) with the 1.5 inch drop looks MEAN.

im running a 295/30 in the back 255/35 in the front... no problems ever with rubbing or anything else at all.

The offset dictates how far in or out the wheel will sit. A 20x10 wheel with a 45mm offset (typical for s197) would have no problems with a 305/35/18 tire. I have seen many s197 stangs with this set up. I would even think a 315 would work also.

I myself am planning on going 315/30/18 on my 18x10 wheel. A lot of the 99-04 new edge boys have done this and this combo looks pretty good.

do you have any pics of the car from the side my friend?? I would like to see how big the gap is in the rear with the sportline and the 35 series tire. I am thinking of going 315/30/18 in the rear, but if the gap will be too big I will go back to the drawing board.
