I want to get the FRPP handling package on my 09 GT but I want to keep my warranty in tact....if I use Ford-approved parts such as the FRPP, will they void my warranty? Hell, I'd even so far as having a dealer install it if it will keep the warranty valid.

I believe it has to be dealer installed(by an authorized Ford racing Perf. Parts dealer), in order for it to NOT void your warranty..

The only way not to void the warranty is to have a dealer install it. I found it looking on Ford's Racing Performance Parts site.

I can't believe springs/shocks and struts will void the warranty...or is that just suspension? U get to keep the drivetrain warranty?

Unless you know someone in service, You are rolling the dice. All they have to say is that "said" part "could" have caused the tranny/engine or anything to blow/break..Then you are S.O.L.

well I do know someone in the service dept at a local dealer...I could see them saying...you dont need new ball joint/tie rods due to your springs...but the springs being related to an engine/trans failure would be pushing it. If thats the case then I think I just voided my warranty lol...springs, lca's, phb

The engine/tranny scenario is stretching a little bit, but tie rods or ball joints you can pretty much forget it under warranty if you changed springs, lca's, etc..

For this very reason, i've been looking at the FRPP CAI/Tuner package so I can keep the warranty...but it doesnt make as much power as others for the same $

you're basically paying for a warranty. I took in my car for a new clutch with Steeda springs and no one said anything. Just set it to stock tuning. If they plug into your ODBII port and see something they don't like, you're fucked... lol.

According to the law in the US, they would have to prove that a modification caused a failure. It isn't as simple as 'any mod voids your warranty'.

That being said, would they even notice anything was changed on the car, doubtful.

I've brought my car in for warranty service with the CAI in plain view, nothing was said and the warranty work was performed as usual.

You've got an easy going service dept. then. I think they are supposed to run a diag on everything to see if its been changed in any way. My service dept does that to the guys when they bring in their diesel trucks with issues. They find out they tuned them and then send them packing..
But you are 100% correct. They have to prove that one part caused another to fail. It just makes it easier for them to say it was caused by something when its aftermarket and not dealer installed FRPP stuff..

Please quit saying "void my warranty". You are not going to "void your warranty" by putting after market parts on your vehicle. This has been covered countless times on a countless number of boards.

It's definitely not going to "void" your warranty. It's called related damage when referencing warranty issues and modifications. If you have aftermarket suspension and you have an engine issue, or a trans issue, or anything not related to the suspension, you're still covered. Likewise, if you have an aftermarket suspension, and your strut mount fails, it's likely not going to be covered because it's directly related to the modified (non-OEM) parts. Even if you have a built motor with a big Procharger, a 6 speed, and a built 9 inch rearend...And your seat stitching comes apart, it'll still be covered. This is all assuming you're still under the original 3/36 warranty period.

In regards to the diesels, the previous Ford dealer I worked for had a zero tolerance program for modified/chipped diesels. The warranties still weren't voided, but if a chipped diesel came in for any warranty work, no part of the powertrain would be covered. Diesels store codes that let the technicians know if it's had a programmer or not. They always knew.

this is why i dont buy the warranty. something breaks, replace it with something better. I got hit in a parking lot when i had my 98 GT, called insurance, got a check, i bought a Saleen body kit and installed it myself. just the way i do it anyways
