Let me give you a little science lesson we'll use something else but you'll get the drift if you read this. Why do whale sharks and whales look so much alike? In evolution it is called convergent evolution. It happens in engineering and even inventions all the time. But it is really obvious if you look at cars today. Almost every car in a particular price range has way more in common than they have different. Why because the manufacturer has a set of criteria, some he sets, some the customer sets and some the government sets [usually to our detriment]. Two parts created to function the same will often look the same for no other reason then it was the logical engineered answer to the requirements. If you can't understand this you aren't qualified to comment on whether something is a copy or not.

How do you feel about direct knock off copies made by dimensioning the competitors parts? Not just a jack pad that everyone who uses a jack is going to think of but copies of complicated parts?

I sure hope you got the snazzy red one(s).

I got the same jackpads (before they offered the upmarket version) and they work very nicely. Like many other posters, I still have to drive up on 2x12's to get enough clearance for the 'low profile' (hah!) jack.

I didn't realize it when I bought the jackpads but they are magnetic which is both handy and clever.

LOL! That is premium packaging of a premium product. I do like the distinction made by the vendor between regular jackpads and the premium version - you do get some extra pizzazz for the price adder.

The question I have is: will those jackpads be treated to Polish Angel??

LOL. Man, you have a bug up your butt over that bracket. I recall you were leaning on him pretty hard to get it in your hot, sweaty hands RIGHT NOW. I know mine came packed just fine and works fine.

So, back on topic. How are those pads working for you? Now that I have the Roush splitters, supporting the car has become more of a PITA than before.

Chris, I'm just being a jerk about the bracket. Lol!!!!!

As for the Premium Jackpad, it is the only way I'd lift my car if I was using a floor jack. I don't want ANY scratches on my pinch welds so this is the ticket. I was using a scissor jack initially to get the car high enough to put my floor jack under the Kmember and then go up from there but I burned up 4 scissor jacks in doing it this way so I needed a permanent fix in starting with the floor jack. My car is so low I had to do it this way.

The guy that sells these is SUPER cool and honest. Fast shipping too.

+1 for the ZL1 jackpads. I have been using his universal jackpad for years and they work great on all the vehicles I've tried them on.

Never seen those fancy red ones before though .. mine are unpainted.

I have Roush side splitters, below each rocker panel. I take it, only the standard jack pad will fit ?

Being Canadian I use a hockey puck on my jack, ran it through a table saw strait down the middle with a 1/8" wide, 3/8" deep cut. They actually stick onto the underside nicely, roll the jack under and away we go. Enjoy.

The Roush ones fit and the universal ones fit Mustangs with side splitters. I've got the universal ones. I like the Roush version but it wasn't available when I ordered mine. Oh, well....

Take off, eh, Hoser! I would use a hockey puck but the side splitters leave only a little section of pinch weld open. Maybe half a lacrosse ball with a slit cut into it would work?? As others have said, the ZL1addons.com pads are really nicely made and the fellow who makes them is A++ in the customer service department.

With my Roush side splitters..there is only a small HORZ space to work with..like barely 1.6- 1.7". I tried making my own from wood several times, and each time it would slice half way through the wood. I swap the rims in oct..and may...and this is becoming a pita. I was gonna fabricate one from Aluminum, then tig weld it..... but I think these Roush units are the real ticket....esp being magnetic. A 2" x 4" block of wood is 1.5" x 3.5". It would slice half way through the 3.5" portion.
