So I was headed to a car show today, and on the way there, at a gas station, I noticed I sheared off 1 wheel stud somehow... Odd, so I said I would replace it when I got back home.

Leaving the car show, I checked and still saw the other 4 there. Good. Halfway home, I hear a "whomp whomp whomp" sound. I pull over. And THIS is what I see!

WOW! Wtf?! Thoughts?!

Side note* I torque mine by hand every time to 100ftlbs. Not with airgun

Aluminum wheels! They have to have all lugs or they throw it out of balance and work the others loose and break them. Years ago same thing happened to me in a Grand Prix .... Only difference I felt the wabble then right front rolled off into a field. I pulled over on the rotor. Ever since then always torque aluminum wheels every few thousand miles

Hubs? This is the rear axle. I felt that wobble bad!

One thing I hate is putting new studs in. That stupid abs gear gets in the way and I do not even have abs! Lol

What had everyone used as aftermarket studs and nuts with abs gears?

Ahh...didn't know it was the rear axles. I didn't have any issues installing the arp studs on my rear axles.

I see those do not have the little notch for the abs gear. Should I just grind the gear down? Lol

One loose lug nut can cause that to happen. So can a shim-style wheel spacer, or a hogged-out lug hole in the wheel. Glad you caught it before it was a major problem.

Have the wheel off lately? I've been through this with my car trailer, the aluminum wheels on it don't stay tight, have to retorque them several times with some miles in between before they finally take a set and stay put.
