I've heard a lot of some issues with the bimmers relating to fuel pump (hpfp) and an oil cooler in the passenger wheel well. Not really sure how valid though.

Also the the oem run flat tires are incredibly expensive as well ($500 a wheel), but if you don't run oem who cares I guess.

Fuel pumps were an issue with the additives in fuel here. So were injectors. Most were replaced and offered an extended warranty on those. If the car hasn't had them done yet get it checked.

Never heard of issues with the oil coolers, some cars didn't come with them and they hit limp mode pretty easy. Easy fix though, we actually sell kits at our shop.
