The week ended with final preparations for drywall taping and mudding, and for the first stucco coat. Corner bead was installed throughout the house and the exteriors of the windows were masked off.

Looking forward, the following items are on tap:

• First Coast of Stucco (scratch)
• Lathing tubs and showers
• Taping Drywall
• Drywall Texture
• Second Coat of Stucco (brown)
• Priming Interiors
• Finish Carpentry
• Installing Stairs
• Installing Bathroom Tile
• Exterior Color Coat
• Exterior Painting
• Installing Roof Tile
• Installing Precast Fireplace Faces

Windows masked off in preparation for stucco.

So who gets to clean those windows out in never-never land on the second floor?

Place is really looking good. Not knowing the lay of the land, I got really nervous when I saw that Santa Barbara fire. I had to pull up a map PDQ.

Even on Memorial Day weekend, the crew was working. On Saturday, May 23, they applied the first of three coats of stucco (a.k.a., the scratch coat).

Hello Gorgeous!

1 year and seven or so months later, it is finally coming together. Damn has it been that long? Congrats my friend, I know it's been a struggle, but it looks to have been well worth it. That is one beautiful home you've got there. Still hopin to make it to S.D. sooner than later. -Raymond-

Thanks Raymond... and yes, it has been that long. But it sure doesn't seem like it.

And when you do make it to San Diego, the beer is on me! :beerchug2:

Don, the house is looking great. How much longer?
Well, that's a 2-part answer. The builder may be done in July sometime, but it won't be ready to move into yet. Once they are done, we still will need to have some interior painting done, and then the granite countertops and all the flooring has to be completed. We also will need window coverings, and a bunch of light fixtures and ceiling fans. Oh and of course, the backyard landscaping. Ideally, I'd like to get the garage floor epoxy-coated and the lift installed before we move in, too.

Added to that "To Do" list is our daughter's wedding on August 1, so things are crazy for the next couple months.

So, to answer your question, I'm thinking a realistic move-in date might be late-Aug/early-Sept... about 100 days or so from now. But I reserve the right to change my mind. haha
