O.K., done plenty of searching and reading. I have a Cobalt wideband and xcal2. I know I need a 9 pin cable, but what I haven't found is how to wire up the wideband to the 9 pin cable. The Cobalt has two wires for datalogging (see atch). Can anyone give me an explanation to this? Also, exactly which 9 pin cable to purchase online? TIA

you can contact SCT at their website and order the 9 pin cable. Its different, but looks alot like an S video cable. Usually only one wire will be used usually...Its old school wire/cable and look at the end of the SCT tuner and you'll see the round female receptacle.
Getting it to work is another pain in the rear.

Yeah, I read a few of your posts of when you were getting yours to work. Thanks for the link...

Oh yeah, I also keep reading about formulas. Once I have the right one, where does it get input, into Livelink?

yea live load or live link which ever one is the one you do your other data logging with and you have to go in there and set it up under the column you use for analog in. I finally got the thing to connect but the signal keep reading out "0" so I guess I had a wiring problem. Never got it to work.Theres instructions at SCT how to do it too.

ok on the digram....replace the words "datalog device" with "SCT handheld"
The cable will plug into the handheld on one end.
You will only use one or 2 wires from the cable. Something out there tells...Its brown, yellow or green. I forget. Infact you have a choice.
You will connect the blue wire from the gauge to the wire on the cable. This way you make a connection from the output signal that goes to and out of the gauge, to the sct handheld. [aka data device]

Remember then you also have a cable going out the other end of the sct handeld. That the more modern usb/printer type cable that plugs in from the hand held and sends the signal that that the gauge sends ( analog wideband in this case ) and it sends it to the laptop for capture along with the other data that the sct handheld is capturing from the ecu and it all goes to the laptop. This where the setup of the correct code comes in. It can read the sct handheld stuff but the stuff coming from the gauge has to be coded/recoded for it to recognize it.
Everything I've told you so far I'm sure of. The 2nd wire coming from the gauge that shows it going to ground, but yet a ground at the device ( in your case the sct device).....THATS the part I dont know. Thats the part I probably did wrong and got tired of messing with it. I'd call autometer.
I'd ask does that ground just go to a grounded spot or is one of the wires from the cable a grounded wire. I remember trying it buy removing the innre wire protected by sheathing { I had been told to do that} and I connected it to that assuming it was ground} but I never got it to work right. Again it could have just been the wrong code.
There you go! Its a good start.....

Anyone figure this out?

I finally got rid of the POS LC-1 and installed the autometer 3378.. It also has the datalog wires(black/blue(-) / Blue(+)..

So what are the steps to hook it up to xcal2...

What was the issue with your LC-1? I've had one for a couple years and I'm happy with it. Their support blows, though...

Do you already have your mini din cable?

Get this cable, http://www.tricktuners.com/product/9_PIN_DIN/SCT-Xcal2-Data-logging-plug/ or make your own (directions on the same site).

The formula to put into Livewire for that AM gauge if the BGD is set at 10.0 - 16.0 is 10+1.5*V or if set at 10.0 - 20.0 it's 10+2.5*V. You should keep it at 10.0 - 16.0 as that's narrow enough of a range to give you an accurate reading. Look at the AM directions on BGD adjustments and also the Data Logger Output Range information towards the bottom of the instructions.

What was the issue with your LC-1?

It never read right.. it was always 5-6 off or most of the time showing 16-22 at wot.. haha

I tried replacing the 02 and that helped a little but it was off.. I tested it 2 days ago before I put in the autometer and it was showing me at 14.1 at 6K.

After auto meter I was at 11.2 or something like that.

Do you already have your mini din cable?

I went though the instructions a little but the 3 wires threw me off a little since only 2 are left for the auto meter. I guess one can be for the blue/black wire/ then blue(=) and then use the same engine ground. .. I think.. but on the din from sct it looks as if one of the wires is for analog 2(if used)

Get this cable, http://www.tricktuners.com/product/9_PIN_DIN/SCT-Xcal2-Data-logging-plug/ or make your own (directions on the same site).

even on their din it looks like 3 wires.. (red/gray/black).. in dumb ass versions..

1)buy din kit

2) connect the autometer blue(+sig input) to (? color) din wire

3) connect autometer blue/black(-sin input) to (? color) din wire

3) what do I do with the spare din wire? (not putting in my butt)

4) whip out laptop that already had livewire.. start it up

5) plug in xcal 2 in obd2 and now plug in the mini din thats connected to the autometer

6) once live link is up plug the usb to the xcal and lap top for reg datalogging and open my file with all the PIDs.

7) Now I will have to add another PID for the WB and thats just called analog 1? then once thats loaded I can set the BDG and other things by right clicking?

8) with laptop and tons of wires drive in a public place and boost to 16psi and record.. haha

You will need to pin check it with a VOM to identify which one goes were.

(taken from Justin's site)

Just find the analog 1 +/- and connect to AM +/-, add the analog1 to your config file and use the formulas that scramblr wrote in his post.

Usually there is a ground in DIN connector to the frame and this is a pin, would check that with a VOM following the graphic.

I got 2 signal wires from the wide band.

The blue wire is the signal output and the blue/black wire is the ground as you mentioned before. The Din cable, if you get it from TrickTuners, will have two or three wires, depending on which one you buy, i.e., one or two analog inputs. If two, the black is the ground and red is analog 1. If three, the gray will be your second analog input which if you don't use right now, you can just tape it out of the way.

In reference to the gauge, the Bar Graph Display (BGD) is set in the gauge. I forgot what the factory setting is, whether 16 or 20, but you have to check this so you use the correct formula in Livewire. I attached the instructions for the gauge in-case you don't have them. All your other steps are correct.

Oh, and we can thank lito for the formula. He hooked me with it up previously. :thumb:
