with all due respect, i think this has more to do with the intial cost of entry over which has more potential. you can get into a 5.0 for well under 30k, while even used 07-90 cars are still mid to upper 30s. not to knock the 5.0, but id take the 5.4 all day over the 5.0.

That is one possible factor. Less people are driving Shelbys hard at the drag strip. They also come with a manual transmission which is going to be an issue for a lot of people vs. the automatic. Good for you man. Lots of people have a hard time with it though. An automatic makes things easier there is no getting around that fact.

I've owned an iron block 5.4 2010 GT500 and it isn't nearly as good as the new aluminum 5.0. The 5.0 block has been in 8, 9, 10.....sec cars and has taken 1K+ HP without a single issue.
Actually these engines have been around longer than the GT500's and were making 1000rwhp+ LONG before the coyote came out in the GT's.Regarding comparing the performance of a 5.4 to a 5.0 motor, strip the 5.4 of it's blower, run it N/A and see which one comes out on top? Aluminum or iron block it won't matter. The 5.0 heads are better period and is why it has done more with less in a shorter amount of time vs. the 5.4 in the GT500.

Congrats on the upgrade! After reading this thread, makes me reconsider my future purchase. I was thinking about buying a used 07-09 shelby , but this thread makes me think a built/blown 5.0 might be better for the $?
umm... if I keep the stock blower then 2.6 pulley, heat exchanger, tune and exhaust then a stage 6 port.
But I may just go right to the 2.9 whipple.
I have one for sale if your looking for a 2.9.

You strip the 5.4 of it's blower and you have a low compression turd. Of course the coyote's going to come out on top. Make the 5.4 11-1 and see which comes out of top. Apples to apples. The 5.4 blocks have made WELL over 1000rwhp. Any coyotes doing that yet ? 1 ? Barely ? I think the coyotes are the shit. But the 500's still have more potential out of the box. The coyote heads on a 5.4, that will be THEE engine.
The comparison on track times doesn't make sense either. Lighter car, lighter engine with an auto. Of course it's going to be faster. How many 9 sec stick coyotes? Compare those numbers for apples to apples. Plus that crowd for the most part aren't looking to change everything to go fast. Just a few bolt ons and enjoy the car.

You are wanting to throw a set of Coyote heads on a 5.4 and call my N/A comparison bogus? Look in the mirror bud. Throw a TVS blower on a Coyote and make it apples to apples with the 5.4. Guess who comes out on top all with much higher compression. Your points of argument are lame and contradictory to say the least.
BTW - you go ahead and make an 11:1 N/A 5.4 with untouched heads and compare it to the 5.0. It will still loose.

Again, comparing a 11-1 coyote with a better blower to a 8.5-1 with a heaton. Out of the box put on a 2.9, 3.4,3.6 on either, see who makes more. Out of the box coyote can't touch it. Will out run it with an auto for sure. BUt a comparison of engines, not platforms.
BTW - I still don't see what makes you think the coyote block is better than the 500 iron block. Because the iron 500 block has made more than any coyote to this day. Although this shop might just change that in coming months
To my original point....
1 word, weight. Just because it's aluminum doesn't make it any less viable or capable vs. the iron block.
Again, if you think you can take a 5.4 11:1 N/A motor and it produce more vs. the new 5.0 you are nuts.
