So last night I wanted to see how many leds were in the gauge cluster so i could order some to replace them. I had to pull apart the gauge cluster and take off the needles. Well i went to put back everything and then found my needles were completely off. After doing tons of searching i found no "simple" way to reset them. Well, i found my own and it works perfect. Enjoy
Well to get to the back of the gauge cluster you have to take out the gauges. Its held in by four 7mm bolts. Once out you have to disconnect the switch from the back. Then there are 5 clips holding the glass piece one. simply pull the clips off one by one and the glass piece should come off. Be careful not to loose the reset button if you have the 4 gauge cluster as well as the spring sitting behind it in the gauges. Now you need to remove the needles. Be very careful doing this. The smaller needles should come off by hand and the big needles will have to be pulled off by a plastic pry fork. I used some kitchen chicken prong that worked fine.
Once the needles are off, then plug the gauges back in with the car on accessory. You will here them reset back to zero. Once they are set, put the needles about 1/4 of the way on so if you need to pull them off again you can do so easily. When you set them on you want them to be were they would settle when the car is off. RMP slightly below 0, Speedo right at 0, Gas just below E, Temp just below the single solid white line, Battery at the single L red line, and Oil at the single L red line. Once you have them set rest the gauges and start the car. This is to make sure when the speedo and rpm kick back past zero they dont go to far. Once they are all set then re-assemble and your good to go. Worked perfect for me and sure it will the same for everyone else. Pic below for reference.
