They kindve do have Cobra-R's, they're called Cobra Jets but more suitable for drag racing and not street legal.

I really do not think Ford can really out do themselves than they already have with the Laguna Seca and the 2013 Shelby.

Yeah you might as well call the laguna seca the cobra r. But when I think Cobra R I think stripped down N/A road course ready car with all thrill no frill. I'm familiar with the Cobra Jet and while I can't say id turn one down, its not really what I want.

That has GOT to be one of the most painful to read articles I've ever set eyeballs on. A terrible mish-mash of wanting to be a Motor Trend writer with a HUGE dash of inexperience and Gen-X mentality.

The car though. WOW! Not a price I would pay, but I'd just LOVE to have it.

Yeah Jalopnik is really bad.

I've seen 2000 Cobra R's pop up on ebay every few months and they rarely seem to hit the reserve.

Where the 2000 R is a nice car, I feel the Laguna Seca is a better performer and a better buy.

You'd be crazy. Cobra R is a beast. Totally underrated from the factory in power.

Uhh no, you're the one who is crazy here. The LS Boss has many years of engine tech and suspension upgrades on its side. The Cobra-R was good for its day, but will not compete against it or even a new Shelby.

Agreed the Cobra R was and still is a badass car, but time has left it behind. Given its rarity and the fact its motor isn't something that's exactly off the shelf, I can see the 46 k being justified.
