Just installed the new style Corsa Extremes along with an off road Bassani x-pipe and my god is it loud and raspy. I've been toying around with throwing on some hi flow cats or resonators. I'm mainly looking to tone down the rasp and clean up the sound without making it too quiet.

Would resonators get rid of much rasp or just quiet it down some? I know theres threads out there about this but Id like to see what you guys are running your Corsas with.

Any other suggestions to tone down the rasp would be appreciated.

I have a 3v with kooks Lt catted h-pipe with Roush extreme exhaust, the only thing I don't like is the drone. But I am considering switching to Corsa touring exhaust.

I don't have the extremes, only the sports (#14311). I have Kooks LT's with a catted X and it's quiet when I'm driving normally, but then when I dog it just screams

I just ordered some m80s i'm gonna clamp in to see if that does the trick and if not i'll just return them and look into some hi flow cats. This setup is even louder than my slp loudmouths with stock cats/headers which I found surprising. I'm more disappointed about the rasp though.

Yeah I don't mind some rasp but mine sound like a hallow rattle can when shifting around 2-3k. WOT sounds pretty damn mean but i don't think I can tolerate the rattle can sound. Part of me thinks I should have gone with the sports...

The O/R X Pipe is the culprit with constant rasp. I agree with the above with maybe putting the M80's. Or swapping out for a H for a lower tone

I like the tone that the x creates just not the rasp. I also like smelling the gas without cats haha. I have my fingers crossed that the m80s work out. They're shipping out today. I'll see if i can get some before and after videos.

I have exactly what you are thinking of switching to. I have the Corsa Tourings with Kooks catted h LT's. I haven't started it up yet because I am in the process of finishing some other mod installs, but I'll get you some vids/sound clips once weather clears up in MI.

OP - I see you are listed in Flint, MI and GA. Are you by chance a Kettering student?

Haha I sure am. How did you know?

edit: not sure how to quote only part of a post.

Well that's my undergrad alma mater. It wasn't long ago I was there - I graduated in December 2010. Pretty good guess, huh?

What section are you, A or B? Shoot me a PM its cool to find someone on these boards from Kettering - not the most well known engineering school, but I still think of the best due to its co-op program.

Anyways welcome to this great forum - you'll find it very technical and helpful.

I had a Pypes O/R X with M-80s and the corsa sports, and it was raspy and trumpeted around 3300RPM really bad.

I switched back to my O/R H and it's much better IMO.

Pypes O/R H-pipe with Corsa Sports (no resonators or anything else):

Same set up, with hot rod cams:

I suggest going with an H pipe. If you think the H pipe is raspy as well, then I would go for cats instead of resonators.
