Doc, Tood, and I went over to North Star Dragway in Denton, TX last night and I got my first taste of doing 1/8ths. Addictive is not the word! I loved it.

My best time was 8.11 @ 86.41mph with a best reaction of 0.403sec and 60ft of 1.94sec.

I ran 6 times and was typically between 8.3 and 8.4. My car was "cutting out" on the top end and that had me mystified, until I realized this morning, I had left traction control on for all 6 runs! Give me the dumbshit award of the day.

I need to get me some good rear tires as I was running on the stock BFG KDWS all night long. I did drop the air pressure to about 22 lbs and that helped. I need to work on my reaction time as well, so that means I must practice more! Gosh, I feel so bad about practicing.

Anyway, consider me hooked on this new drug!!!

I feel so honored to be with you when you popped your cherry:roflmao:

I completely understand about wanting new tires. First off I can't afford to be trashing the tires I run on the streets like that too much. And second, just plain stupid that I couldn't get a 60 better than 1.8 last night. That pisses me off almost as bad as me not being able to get in line for that factory rubber shootout that I would have walked away with. Hell, the winning time was over a half second than my times were all night. And the quickest time in it was 3/10s slower than what I ran all night. That woulda been an easy ass $200.

As disappointed as I was with my times last night, I will say that the clutch delete damn sure added consistency. Sitting here with six time slips and there is 8/100th difference between the six.

You guys don't ever hear me talk numbers because I race it exactly the same way I drive it every day on the street. Tire in the trunk, crap in the floor board, standard pump gas, my daily driver tires. Hell, I don't even wash it before I go (just ask Mike!). I drive out there, let a little air out of the tires, and run down the track.

But to satisfy the curious...

Not my best reaction time of the night. My best was .0973 But like I said, all six runs were within 8/100th of each other.

LMFAO! I had thought about saying I lost my cherry last night but I figured I'd get a shit load of guff for it!

Doc is right on the money about how he raced it. Same for me, spare tire, no wash job, BFGs and whatever was in the car(ipod, radar detector, etc.).

What was interesting, even with my crappy times, we were all still beating 2 Shelby GT500s; hell one even had paper plates (brand friggin new).

If you ever make it out to a 1/4 mile track post up a slip so I can add you to the ET Spreadsheet. Our 2nd in command needs to be on the list.

90mph in the 1/8 should work out to 118-120 mph in the 1/4 at around 11.40-11.60 depending on the 60' time.

my daily driver tires.
You are still running those nice big Nitto DRs right? Those should be decent for you. Since you are running consistent ETs, they must not be spinning much. Are you 60s pretty close too?

Not to be contradictory, but I see a 7.7 @ 90 coming in more like 11.9 @ 113 or so.

Hell yea... bench racing on a Sunday morning... hahah

Congrats!

I was going for the first time last night....but my car is stumbeling, I think the new plugs I have coming will fix that.
I did go to the track to watch last night. There were maybe 100 cars there and guys were able to run like every 20 minutes. It was 63 degrees. My local track is open through nov 1st so I hope I can get my feet wet. BTW the fastest car went 9.37 144mph:wtf: Full drag car.

You mean to tell me that everyone on there didn't get there until they ran in the 1/4? (not that I care.. again, you never see me talking about times. Just curious)

Hell, I figured it was more around 12.1 to be honest about it

This was the very first time I have had the car at the track since the transmission swap. Hell, for that matter, the transmission swap and tuning wasn't what I would call "complete" until last Wednesday. I honestly am learning how to drive it all over again. I was launching right at 2k. I think I might be able to bring that up a couple of hundred but not a lot more. Tires try to break loose around 2400~2500. Just need to get used to the car.

Yep... it's only for 1/4s. That's why it took me 2 years to change my number. haha.

I've been thinking about doing another one just for 1/8-mi tracks.

What TC are you running? Even with my 3500, I can't brake it higher than 2500 or the tires will turn and push me through the beams. I need to get my dam MSD launch master installed so I can just set it the highest rpm that will hold.

If you look at the ET spreadsheet, its common place for the blower cars to gain 26-29 mph from the 1/8th to the 1/4 mile. So a 90 mph 1/8th mile mph should easily be 116 to 119 mph. Based on that mph, he could run a 11.40 to 11.60. You yourself ran an 11.49 at only 115mph, right?

Yeah, its a 1/4 mile list because it is also a ranking. If someone only posted and 1/8th mile time, I wouldn't know how to rank it.

And your being too modest. If your car would only run a 12.1 I would wonder whats wrong. I ran 12.1X's at only 109 mph.

Yea.. damnit.. I have been thinking about one of those too. Of course that would be the first step off the "street car" path that I am trying to stay on.

Well, the car modesty goes along with it being so quiet that no one pays attention to it. Just one of those "things". Hard to take people's money when you tell everyone what it does, what it has, and they can hear it a block away :beerdrink:. There are plenty of 800+hp Cobras around here that only run mid 11s that I leave those kind of things to
