Actually you are wrong, they were in stock. And it doesn't apply in this situation anyhow.

Wait...... what? I thought you said they were being machined? That would not mean stock for me. Do you mean they were in stock AFTER you ordered them... then cancelled them? So you want to order them, get them machined... cancel the order.... then order them for a lower price because they are in stock? Did I get that right?

Machined ones I wanted were in stock. Regardless, it doesn't matter. They are coming from the same manufacturer, the "in stock" issue with regards to price matching clearly does not apply here.

It doesn't apply because there is no such price matching. The manufacturer has nothing to do with it, it's a matter between vendors.

Example:

Best Buy sells Apple iPods.
Walmart sells Apple iPods.

If Walmart is out of iPods, Best Buy won't price match--even if Apple has them in stock.

Neither of them have them in stock you goofball. That's why is doesn't apply. It's a moot point.

Why would them having it in stock or not affect their own price match policy?

Still waiting on the "MANY" who do price match guarantees the way you think they work.

Why was the manufacturer even brought into the mix? They have nothing to do with your dispute with FWS.

Maybe it's just common sense to some, but a made to order wheel (or anything MADE TO ORDER) is final.

It is your fault for not researching the cheapest price available prior to ordering. When I read price match guarantee I see it as "Yes we will match an advertised competitor price at time of purchase." not "Yes we will match an advertised price for xx amount of days after FINAL purchase."

I work for FWS, I would know if they were in stock or not okay???

Since you work there, hook it up with an employee discount!

I involved the manufacturer because the Vendor said They couldn't refund me because Forgestar won't refund them. That's when I went back to Forgestar and asked why.

To me, common sense and common courtesy dictates that a "Price match guarantee" should be effective at least up until the point of shipment. Best Buy apparently also agrees with this logic. (And I know they aren't the only ones)

Again, what is the point of the "Guarantee" if it doesn't protect you in any way? Why would you need to guarantee that you price match only BEFORE you click the buy button? Like I said, you can just buy it from the place that had it the cheapest instead. Why bother going thru the hassle of contacting them only to give you the same price from the other place? There's no point.

Here's 2 other major retailers that offer true price match gaurantee's that extend post-sale: (You can do both up to 14 days AFTER you have the possession of the product)

Staples:
How does Staples’ price–match guarantee work?
If you find a lower price on a new identical item, just show us the lower price when you buy the item at Staples and we will match the price, or within 14 days of your Staples purchase and we will give you the difference (see full policy below for details).

Sears:
Price Match Plus
(Rev. 09/20/2010)
Retail Competitors
If you find a lower price on an identical branded item with the same features (in Consumer Electronics identical brand and model number) currently available for sale at another local competitor's retail store, Sears will match that price and give you 10% of the difference. Just bring in the original advertisement to a sales associate at the time of, or within 14 days after, your purchase.

Another one:

Hotels.com:

The hotels.com Price Match Guarantee protects your pocket book and takes the worry out of booking a hotel room. AFTER you book with hotels.com, if you find a lower publicly available rate online for the same dates, hotel, and room category, we will match the price and refund you the difference.

Shall I go on...or have I made my point on what a "Price match guarantee" is?

Here's another one:

Endless.com:

100% Price Match Guarantee

We're working hard to make sure our prices are the best around, but if you find another site that offers a lower price within two weeks after the date we ship your order, let us know and we'll credit your original payment method for the difference,

Shall I go on?

My point was already made with the 5 I already posted. If a light hasn't gone off in your head yet, it never will.

But just for measure:

Expedia.com
"Best Price Guarantee"
We're so confident you’ll find the best price for your trip here on Expedia that we guarantee it. Find a cheaper trip within 24 hours of booking and we'll refund the difference-and give you a travel coupon worth $50.

No where on FWS does it list any sort of description in FAQ or T&C pertaining to price matching. It is listed on the top of the page, once. Again, which implies to me that if you take them a lower price they will match it. Not buy from them, find a lower price, and go make a big deal about it. And you could have asked what that meant when placing the order. Suck it up and move on.

We want to see pics of forgestars, not hear you cry over $170.

As I keep saying it's assumed when you say "price match guarantee" that it will at least guarantee you are getting the lowest price prior to shipment. Having a guarantee to match before you actually buy with an online retailer is, again, pointless. Please tell me what the point is? The point is they want to say hey buy from us, we guarantee we'll give you the lowest price. That becomes a meaningless if it's only BEFORE you hit the buy button.

At first it was just about the $170, then it became the point of it that they wouldn't work with me. Just wanted to share my story here and it unfortunately snowballed into a big debate.

It's not assumed.

Out of the four of us who have pitched in on this topic, you're the only one with this notion that they have to refund you the difference because you found a better price after you placed the order.

So you think I should to succumb to you 4 people who really don't know what you are talking about? I have posted proof to back up what I am saying (Which you asked for and thought I couldn't provide) I have effectively rebutted all your comments. Now you are resorting to "dude, it's 4 to 1" lol.
