All in all though - everyone has a really really gorgeous car on this forum, and people choose wheels, because frankly they look wicked on the car. Now, moar pics!
i see i see, well still very common, specially bullitts and fr500 omg its like sickening lmfao

on another note im anxious to see that brushed titanium ... i think its gunna be damn sexy!
hah thanks, and how many asians are on this forum? lol jw cause i dont see many asians muscle cars hahaha its pretty funny IMO just a stereotype but yeah...i got my j&m lower control arms in yesterday and im gonna put them on tonight along with my bmr panhardyay hahah
Maybe some help here?
My plan is:
315 40 18 Nitto NT05R on my 18" X 11" Forgestar for the rear
275 45 18 ?tire..not sure? on my 18" X 9.5" Forgestar
My thought...contrary to what most are running in this thread is that the tire sizes I have picked are extremely close to my OEM 245 45 19 = 27.7" tire height.
I am running a simple set of Eibach sport springs. This is my wifes car and I dont want her to have to be "extra" careful when shes driving.
Does anybody see a "problem" here? Thanks all!
Thanks man. I am mostly wondering why everybody goes with the 275 40 in the front vs the 275 45? Is it a 2010 and up thing maybe?theres some good info on here, http://www.s197forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56930
also refer to www.willtheyfit.com as a tire size calc.

Yepper...I am well schooled on tire sizes and how they work. I just am at a loss to why everyone wants to run a shorter tire instead of the "same" overall diameter.275/40 is less taller than 275/45. in relevance to the width number (275) the higher the profile number the taller the tire.
use the tire size calc and see what tire will work as close as you can get it from factory tire height
Really depends on how much sidewall you want, both in terms of looks, ride and handling as well as consideration to rubbing and rim protection.
Some prefer a lower-profile look, some prefer medium and some want a taller sidewall and just to fill the gap as much as possible.
More sidewall height= more traction in the rear and more cushioning and rim protection, but less crisp handling and it also could possibly cause rubbing depending on how much you are lowered.
Me I went somwhere in between with 285/40's on all 4..i think that size tire looks perfect on 18x10's and they are almost the same height as my stock 235/50/18's. Matching the height wasn't a big deal though because I can simpyl adjust my speedo with my handheld tuner. Another consideration too is its effect on gearing (in the rear). Also, you should try and match the front and rear in sidewall height as closely as possible for looks...at least in my opinion.

I mostly just want fill the gap left by the springs. I like the room I have with the stock 27.7" diam tires. Looks like Im heading in the right direction... Thanks all.
Oh and yet another consideration I forgot to mention is weight...and possibly rolling resistance. Many people forget about the weight of tires, even if they've considered it when it comes to their wheels. 275/45 will obviously weigh more then a 275/40 etc etc. Also they can vary from one specific tire to the next as much as 5lbs in the SAME SIZE. For example Conti Exteme Contact DW's in 275/40 weighs 26lbs while many others in the same size weigh 31 lbs. That's a BIG difference in rotational mass, and it's mass thats further from the hub to which I believe makes it worse. Some people could spend a lot of money for light weight wheels and then completely offset the benefit with heavy tires. Wheel/Tire weight really does have a significant impact on performance in all areas, as well as the general feel of the car.
