This was the first time I ran a 1/4 mile. BTW, I was in the left hand lane if you didn't already know that!

What say the gallery?

This was what I was running. Saleen SC 8lbs boost; 411 RWHP 382RWTQ; Spydershaft and 3.73 gears; 5sp automatic tranny; M&H 275/45-R18 drag radials.

Thx,

Mike

I just finished pulling the vids of your runs off my camera.
Way to go man, you did pretty damn good yesterday.

Was that True Street thing a joke or what?? Street cars my ass. That was the first time and probably the last time I will run that class. I'm surprised as hell that they only lost 2 cars on the 30 mile cruise. I know when I got called back for the quick 8 (which surprised the shit out of me) it was me and 7 race cars. And two of the 7 were pissed off because I was there. They were crying to Charlie (the FFW official) wanting to know how I got there and what were my averages etc. I turned and told one of them to fuck off, at least I was actually running a true street car in the true street class and not a fucking race car with a bogus inspection sticker thrown on it.

Thanks! I had a great time.

Oh yes it was lame! I saw one dood with the equivalent of fucking slicks on the car. DOT approved my ass, maybe when they were new, but those were not street legal tires with maybe a micron of tread left on them. And then those damn race cars as you said with an inspection sticker on them. Who the fuck inspected those cars, I wonder?? No way they were street legal. One had an open exhaust, I smelled the burnt race gas as he idled by, and if he was running leaded fuel that's an EPA no-no since 1996! It was a jack-off if I ever saw one. I think they need to refine the rules just a bit and get a real TX inspector down there to say yeah or nay to them being a true street car or not (no leaded fuel, catalytic converters, must drive the frigging thing too and from the event, etc.)

Good for you setting those too assholes who were whining about you being there straight!

You know how those damn drag racers are. They bitch and whine ....
I guess their little clique was disrupted because there was an actual street car in the mix.

Nice job Mike. And what the hell was in the right lane with an 8.5?

It was going too fast to identify!!

It was a Fox body heavily modded--cammed to the hilt, drag slicks etc. It definitely was not a street car.

Funny thing I dont recall it deploying a chute (and I had a damn good view of its rear the whole way down the track), and anything going 150mph or higher required a chute!

Thx,

Mike

Darn! Maybe I should have run my car in true street!!

I'm just wondering how he got by without a chute at 158 MPH!

Yeah, I saw true street here in Houston and decided I would never run that class! I had a friend enter it and I was going to. However, I spit the bushings out of the LCA's the night before and couldn't run. I was glad too! He told me there were several accidents on the cruise when some of the "street cars" couldn't stop or overheated and broke down!

I think this is why I really prefer NMRA. It's just a better run event in my opinion!

how do these cars do this... we have true street events here on Guam ad guys bitch about the street cruise because they are afraid they will overheat... do these fuckers not understand what a street car is?... I admit though... I use MT ET streets when I entered... Brand new they don't have any tread to speak of but they are DOT approved...

Well we had a couple drop out on our street cruise also. And I will probably never bother to run it again either. I should have ran Ultra Stang instead.

Well i wouldn't run True Street and I'd say my car is more qualified then some of the cars out on it. Heck I have a toll tag in the windshield and a full stereo, subwoofer, and spare in the car!

I just really didn't think it would be that much fun.

Well anyways OP good job on the new times! Other then being buzzed by a low flying rocket (foxbody) how was the experience.
