Whatever your decision is, id put it on paper before I did anything. Total cost vs total cost. Ill have close to 6k in upgrades to mine from exhaust to blower setup etc. Coudlve been cheaper if I only bought used but I think its quite realistic. I'm hoping I can run like a bolt on 5.0.

The power is nice; but I like 2 main things:
You can twist them up higher without fear
The transmission...oh what a lovely gearbox. The way the car is setup is geared super super deep too; so it's always in power. Toss in the 4v sound and the updates everywhere else and its a no brainier IF you were going to be in that deep anyhow.

Yeah, Thats good advice, I plan on putting the pencil to it, so to speak. I will have quite a bit in modding if I do boost, but I know it'd be a blast. Both have their advantages in my mind. Thus why I created this thread to gather some outside opinions, other than my wife who says, " I don't care, Do what you want." lol

I had an easy decision, my car is a sexy bitch from every angle and plenty fast for my needs.
Get what will make you happy! and remember buying a car should always be about more than one attribute. You have to be IN LOVE with the car and pretty much everything about it.

I have a supercharger in the closet for when I really NEED that extra oomph though.
So far, no rush

Agree about being in love with the car. It's a commitment, because I'm the type of person that even if I hate it, I'd ride it out until it was paid for and then trade it. I don't like to take a beating on a trade. Because of money against the trade

For the record, I'm just messing with yall. It don't matter what you do. I love all Mustangs!!!

Carry on. LOL

I am listening to both sides, and this thread has actually went well. I have been able to get great insight from both sides, which in turn though isn't helping me jump off one side of the fence or the other.. lol and I know you're messing around, but I know you're pro 5.0 all the way. You don't miss that gray car at all? lol

IMO be happy with what you have. If you are always chasing the best mustang you will forever be trading in your car and one day wonder why you are in massive debt.

I agree with this too, and it's an easy web to get caught in, wanting the latest and greatest and fastest, which you can never really have. The next thing will be faster or better somehow. It always is. As far as debt, My wife and I have worked hard to be in no debt minus our home and thats the otherside of it. I haven't had a car payment in 4 years. So getting another car payment is another thing to think about.

I've had both cars - a Vortech supercharged '07 GT 4.6L 3V Coupe that ran high 11's in the 1/4 mile & I now own an '11 GT 5.0L Coupe that has trapped over 117 mph in the 1/4 mile recently with just a canned SCT tune, K&N filter (stock airbox & MAF), and FRPP axlebacks. My '11 with just very minor mods feels just as fast as my supercharged '07 ever did and it traps 3 mph higher in the 1/4 mile, so it's not just an illusion.

This just made it very interesting. You're comparing apples to apples as far as my topic. Exactly what I would be doing. A Vortech HO kit or the 5.0. hmmm

Dynoing back to back with a friend's bolt on 5.0; I can tell you upfront you are going to want to compare roots style blowers to the 5.0 and not go by peak #s.

The 5.0 laid down over 30lbft at peak but made as much as 40+ from about 1500rpm lower. They seriously have tq curves like a positive displacement blower. That plus the deep gearing and their ability to twist past 7k and maximize the gear is what really makes these cars fly.

It's why a 3v and a 5.0 with similar #s will near always see the 5.0 out in front.

I was just having the same dilema. As military i had helluva price on a 2013 loaded GT. Pretty much brand new with all the bells and whistles for $29k. I decided to go a different route, I'm keeping my 08 with 34k miles and throwing an S&H Turbo on it. Instead of getting a new HIGHER car payment, Slightly higher insurance, i'm going to put my love and tender care into my first true muscle car. I love my lil red rocket...haha. Its mine, its me, people know me by it. Of course that would all change if I got a 2013 but I started this project, I'm gonna finish this bitch and ooohhh is she gonna be bad! Then....when this baby is paid off in 2 years or less I'll get the 2015 as long as its not a mustang II!

If you have lots of money and it isn't a factor get GT500.

If you have lots more but not enough for the above get a 5.0.

If money is factor then supercharge your 4.6l. 450rwhp for $3500 is now do able.

I test drove one when I had a whipple on my car and 490rwhp. Honestly, I wasnt all that impressed driving the new 5.0. I understand it has a better foundation then the 05-10, but I wasnt willing to demod my car and go buy one right then like people on here are saying. Everyone has their own opinion but to trade in your truck and the car and still have 4 to 5 years worth of payments doesnt seem worth it to me. Buy a blower, enjoy the power. In a few years when people start letting go of their modded 5.0s for cheap, consider it then. Just my thoughts though

/agree

If money were no object I would probably have a 2007-09 GT500 with a new shortblock and a blower swap.

I have a turbo 3v and love it. I like the lines on my bullitt better, and to be brutally honest....I prefer the barebones feel and look of the 05+ interiors over the 10+. the drivetrain of the 11+ car appeals to me over the actual car itself. if it ever becomes reasonable ill explore the option of a coyote transplant swap, but the car is something I could pass on. I enjoy my car for what it is, and what I envision it to be . ill enjoy my outdated 3v car for years to come. speed is just $ figure.

I personally do not like the 2 for 1 idea.... and then 5-6 years of payments? bad move, IMHO
I could never drive a Mustang Daily....

and since you have a truck, why not go for a 5.0 swap?

My vortech # peaked higher but I'd get crushed by his
stkjock had a vortech boosted 3v vert. He ran mid 11s with it. Not sure how much boost he was running but it was stock bottom end. He did well enough to keep up with a bolt on 5.0.

If he trades in both he won't have any payments.

I'm beginning to think it should be spelled $peed.

:)

Agree, When at the track you're merely racing pocket books for the most part. That may be my new sig. lol

I would have to finance a little bit, but could have it paid off in a year or less.

buy one. and buy it from this man. Brian is the best around, and his dealership will hook you up with great pricing.

I've just about got my brother in law talked into giving Brian a visit.
