It started about a month ago i would very randomly get blinking CEL's (misfire on only 1 particular cylinder) and then it would go away and come back. Brought it into the dealer several times they never had the same issue but saw the code, Finally brought it in for a 4th time and they found a head to be cracked (only 7k miles). At this point ford told them to replace the whole engine, a week later here i am.

Went to drive home running and sounding great, 30 miles later i accelerate and upon slowing down at the stop light the engine starts to shake REALLY bad and the CEL blinks again.

So now the dealer has asked me to keep and eye on it and bring it in if it happens again.

Anyone have any ideas what could be causing it? So far my dealer has been great and i hope they can fix this issue permanently. Also no mods at all are on the car or ever have been.

without any codes or a more detailed description - it's not possible to diagnose the issue over the internet.

The blinking cell is usually a misfire.... but other then that one blip the car has been doing great with the new engine. Took a wot run and it feels like a whole new beast

did they replace the engine's computer? (not sure what acronym we are using these days... pcm... ecu)

I too have a 2012 V6 auto with about 12k miles. I have been thinking about getting it tuned and CAI. Not sure if I want to chance it now.

One 3.7L engine issue makes you want to reconsider getting tuned? Not trying to be a dick here, but are you kidding me? If that makes you worry, just don't do a thing to it until it's out of warranty. Seriously.

It's like all the folks panicking about their 5.0L engines when a few popped due to bad tuning. When you look at the amount of tuned cars vs. those that had problems, it's such a small percentage as to be negligible.

You've got a MUCH better chance of being killed in a traffic accident than having engine problems, but you still drive don't you?

Yes, I understand... but the thought of modifying a car that I am making payments on gives me the creeps...Every mustang I have owned in the past, I have owned outright and modified the hell out of them even blowing them up a few times. anyway, my issue to figure out, don't want to high-jack thread...

Little update everything seems to be going strong now since the tech recalibrated the misfire sensor

Good stuff! Haven't been on the forum for some time, but glad the problem was fixed.

As for modding your financed car... Don't worry, just make sure you keep all your stock stuff incase anything goes wrong. :p
