just my .02, but if i were in your shoes, id go with the aluminator for the better rods. i just think the H-beam will hold up better than the stock boss rods.
as for the high rpm, i agree with blackgt87...id put some good springs in it and be done with it.

The NA Aluminator comes with BOSS springs but regular coyote valves. One day I may pop open my valve cover to see if they did any other top end changes to this motor.

Not what you guys probably want to hear, but I'm at a hotel in Simi Valley. Going over to MMR tomorrow to check out the facility. I had a lengthy talk with Mark after comments i made on another forum, and I'm at least going to investigate in person all my options. More detail to come in the morning

You know, They post their BBB A+ rating front page on their website. People are NOT shy about going to the BBB with complaints.

I worked in powersports for 10 years and got to experience the joy. Sample: Customer demands to be reimbursed time and mileage to/from and while at dealership for not giving me what I want on trade and not making a deal. We had to respond to this idiot and have it show on BBB.

For MMR to be on since 2009 and have 1 complaint, that is pretty fucking remarkable.

LOSTSOUL, I know you had a messed up deal, and not trying to down grade in any way the crap you went through.

Can't wait to hear about MMR. Have talked with them a few times and they were nothing but quick, courteous and helpful.

Mark was great to work with today, gave me a tour, and went over every inch of the build, paperwork, options, and evaluation of the parts I brought. While I was there I did get to see how they treated other customers, and there were a few very positive examples.

I signed the paperwork and plunked down some cash for this:

What is the head cooling mod. I see on your build sheet?
Good luck on the new engine.

It removes the rear freeze plugs on the heads and ties them together with a -8AN line. I imagine it doesn't do a whole lot, but it was inexpensive and will allow the sides to equalize in temperature a bit (the leading theory being the driver's side head gets hotter than the passenger, especially in the rear).

I want to know more about this cooling mod.

Sent from my toilet using Tapatalk.

Essentially the same apparatus that was on the old 5.0. My 94 cobra had a tube that connected each head(i had to block it off due to my lower intake I had installed). They did something similar on the 2003-04 cobras because they were getting so hot. It was about time you started seeing people doing similar applications. Go on svtperformance and google head cooling mod, you'll get a better explanation.

Thanks for the info. Pretty much same as on the 03/04 cobra's.

I searched over there and found a lot of posts referring to the mod, but nothing showing pictures and/or a write up of it. How effective was that at equalizing head temperatures?

I can do this, I'll get a non-contact thermometer and check mine against ArizonaGT's boss. I imagine actual temps will vary, but we can check the delta between the sides. Though you guys will have to wait 4 weeks for the results

Nice! Glad to see your car will be back and better. Can you run the stock ecu with this setup or will it need to be tuned? I see the build sheet says main harness, so is that for the boss.

I had sold my harness, valvecovers, coils, throttle body and fuel rail thinking I wouldn't need them as I was getting a crate motor. Now that I commited to this, we needed to get those on the invoice (they gave me a fuel rail, which was great of them to do). So I am spending about $900 more than I should have needed to due to bad decision making there. I guess can't call them all, but still the pricing of this is in line with the aluminator, and much cheaper had I not sold those items. I could save a bit going used on the throttle body, but with this build and the price it was offered made sense to take advantage of that upgrade as it may add back some HP and Torque down in the street range that the boss manifold loses.

The heads look amazing if anyone's not seen a set of boss heads. the machining work is very, very pretty (as are the valves). Interesting casting differences between them and the stockers. Maybe I can talk Mark into getting a couple side by side shots against the factory head.

Almost a month later, an update for everyone:

The indiegogo campaign ended, and once the funds are dispersed, I'm sending them to the Arc.

Additionally I have some pistons to mail out to those who helped, and I should have them out Friday. Thanks for all the help, everyone here is welcome to a ride in the car (and hell, a drive in it!)

As far as progress on the motor, its still awaiting its turn to be built, parts are stacking up. I can't wait to get my hands on it all, but may be september. I really hope sooner than later as its been a very tough summer in Phoenix (and everywhere), and I've been borrowing a car without AC.

My foot is slowly healing, still is painful, but I'm able to run again, and have been working on my fitness.

I'll post a picture of the Arc donation once those funds are released and keep everyone informed. Hopefully start having build pictures and progress to share.
