I highly recommend 4.10s, absolutely love mine. Before the blower that was the best mod, completely changed the car.
Same here. Car felt quicker with gears than the cai/tune.

The 4.10s are a great mod but like everyone says, get a sticky tire. I picked about 2 tenths up with the 4.10s in the eigth on street tires and im auto with a stock converter but I went from not spinning with stock gears to spinning off the line pretty bad with the gears. So I know I could easily pick up a better time with tires.

Spinning off the line due to torque sooner. Tires will help but it will STILL spin if you can't launch.

Im really only at the track once in a while.. 99% of the time im just punching it from a roll in first or second on my way to work or home.. the goal is essentially to make the car more fun during that time. Aaaaaaand if i could squeeze a 12 second pass out of it, that wouldn't hurt anything either... :)

If you want to be able to punch it in first on the street with a 4.10 gear and have a reasonable expectation of keeping the car pointed in the right direction, you'll want to consider the tire & suspension upgrades. But that's a good problem to have. :naughty1:

It would be fun with 4.10s even without suspension and tire mods. You'll learn to get real good at feathering that throttle. :D

4.10s are a great mod for a 3650 equipped car. It will keep the car in the power band better. If your not running at least DRs at the track the 4.10s will not help, you will just spin more. With similar mods plus suspension work,1 piece DS,DRs, I ran a best of 12.57 @ 109. DA was +500.
So you ran that time with those mods and nothing else?

I'm relatively happy with my stock 3,55s, but this thread has really tempted me to get 4.10s! Just street driving for me with non DRs, lowered and LCAs.

Today, on the way to my fathers day golf tourney the roads were empty and I wanted to get on it a bit. It's Arizona so at 6am it was 80 degrees and climbing. Even with 3.55s revving it to 3500 and slipping the clutch I was spinning in first like crazy. It makes me think that 4.10s are going to shred the crap of tires unless I get something sticky.

Indeed. Upgraded suspension & tires are mandatory if you want to hook on 4.10s. If I finesse the clutch outta the hole, I can dead hook on the 285/40 F1 Supercars, but that's with UPR suspension and a 3.55 gear.

Without proper tires, your times will suffer with 4:10s. Ask me how I know.

Yes indeed, but I've not gotten around to buying a pair of drag radials yet and I'm having a very hard time hooking up at the track.

would you guys know how much the average gear install costs at a shop? Also what items should i get with the gears to replace and/or upgrade. Thinking about getting 3.73 for my auto.

By far my biggest bang for my buck mod, makes the car so much more fun to drive. My auto spins through first and second from a dig though if I don't baby it. I need a tire, the stockers aren't cutting it. I rarely drive the car, but If I could do it again I would have gotten 3.73s, only because highway driving is brutal. Unless I'm passing someone I hardly hit over 70 mph (to slow for me) just because I hate putting unnecessary wear on the motor. Maybe it just seems like its Reving so high because my Lts and pypebombs. Lol.

Great mod though.

Edit - My install was $400. Next gear swap I'll do on my own.

What is this unnecessary wear you speak of?
