About the only thing you can do (besides easing into the throttle) is run drag radials and even those will spin on the highway if you have enough power.

Found a nice set of SVT stockers that have been widened. Guy has proxy's in the back in a 335/18. Those should hook lol. They were professionaly chromed and look almost too nice. Think they are heavy tho (not sure how much they weigh). He has 275's up front and those are probably overkill (and heavy) for anything I would ever need. Tires are almost new and he want $1k for the setup. Good price and could probably walk with them for $850.

I have 670lb/ft of torque at 2500 rpm on 93, and over 730 on the race gas. Then again, I run a nitto (shitto) nt555r dr 305/35/20 as my daily rear tire.

Those would be night and day over my 255's (just about anything would). how wide rim to get the aspect ratio to work?

Thats definataly more torque than I am making and that is freggin comin in quick too.. Mine comes in almost immediately with the 127350's locked almost full advance. My weight transfer is a joke. Running GT500 sway bars/dampers/ultralight springs/BMR upper+mount at -2*/bmr adjustable ph+brace. Nice for corners (over stock) but leaves much to be desired for drag. The vert is heavy too.

That is a good price. I imagine they will be yours shortly.

I ended up buying 2008 GT500 take off wheels. With them I can run a max 305/45/18 tire that's almost 29" tall. Currently on 295/45/18 and 255 in front.

I just replaced the stock Dunlops SPort Maxx with Nitto Invo. Very quiet tire... Seems to grip well too and have a cool tread!!

I have the Invo's too for a year now. Lots more grip than the BFG kdws and a WHOLE lot quieter. The tread pattern always draws questions

Sorry to bump a old thread but I didn't want to start another. I'm currently at 462 wheel with 4.10's and traction issues are honestly starting to ruin the fun of being blown. I have a 285 555 (not the Dr) and can't even shift into third without the car wanting to go sideways. I was looking at the 305 555r or the kdw's in a 295. Only reason I haven't gone out and bought the 555r is I don't want to have to drop 600$ every sox months into tires. Could the kdw's handle my car????

Not really. KDW 2 is a hard compound tire, Get some Toyo Proxes R888. I had good luck with them on my last car.

I got Just Tires to price match a pair of 555R's with americanmuscle.com's website. So about 600$ mounted and balanced. Is it true they won't last long though? I looked at 888's but the side wall is so damn short. The only size that would be close are 315/30/18. That's kind of small no?

People get 10-15K miles out of them with light strip use. If you do a lot of burnouts at the strip, then you're looking at 5-8K from what I've been told.

I had a set of 305/45/18 Nitto 555 R's, they lasted me over 6 months and still had some tread left on them. However, I could punch it in 2nd gear and spin quite a bit.
Later I switched to 315/35/18 Toyo Proxes R888 and could dead hook in 2nd gear, and 1st gear was actually somewhat useable.

This was on a 600 WHP Convertible GT with 4.10 Gears and a Whipple, though.

I didn't like the lack of sidewall on the Toyo though, which is why I wouldn't get another set unless it was in a better size.

Yeah I've heard wonderful things from the toyo's, but mine is a daily, and I lowered it to kill the wheel gap so I'm not rolling around in a 4x4. Those tires will bring it right back haha. 555R's it is! Cars never seen a track. Just a bunch of local Mustang meets with friends and the occasional 'anti-Honda flyby' haha

The 555Rs can last you 10-12K, depending on how you drive. I'm with you on this dilemma. As I posted above, a T/S, 4.10s and 520whp makes for slippery fun.

I like what was posted about the Toyos, but that side wall is a deal breaker for me. I'm even considering going to 3.73s, although a 6-speed tranny is in my future. What to do, What to do.

I've considered a 6060 too, but if the 555r's still won't let me floor it in second and not spin going into third then I'm stepping down to 3.73's.

Honestly I've been on the ropes between the tranny or forges rods and pistons with a smaller pulley.... both about the same price haha.

Do the motor first... I am going to try the 555r's too. Limited selection for 20's tho.

I missed the killer deal.. damn. Guy sold locally the night before I was going to drive out to get them.

I'm surprised not to hear more praise for the Bridgestone RE-11. Try are an amazing tire and are not horribly priced.

Honestly I think these mustangs need street radials when you start running boost. A car shouldn't be going sideways when I shift into third gear at 80mph. Thanks nitto 555

And yeah I'll go motor first. In time...

I think you'll like the 555r.
It served me well at 420rwhp and held its own at 500.
Was o.k. in the rain too, now I'm not talking performance driving just getting home.
Tried some variety recently and went with Mickey T sportsman s/r's
DO NOT LIKE!!!!!

Well, it's been raining and cold here in Ohio over the past few days and my 555s suck in these conditions. So much so that even with just a tuner and CAI, I'm spinning everywhere. I'm really not trying to, but any sort of acceleration in these conditions and I'm loose. I've got the stock wheels that came on the car, so I'm going to put new tires on them for the winter and leave the Razors with 555s in the garage until Spring. Anyone have any advice on a good all-season/winter tire? This is my DD and I need something that can handle different conditions.

Mine are the same way in the rain. Imagine what your going through, with 450 wheel lol. Luckily it doesn't rain often in CA, like three times a year if we're lucky.
