Yeah^, if nothing is wrong with the header, and we established it wasn't a design issue, what is a new header going to do?

I personally would have sold him 1 pipe, but then when i closed my shop in 2004, I threw away thousand of dollars of parts, because I opened box's and sold parts to make my customers happy. If I could go back and do it again I would not have done that. Customer loyalty is a thing of the past. The minute you don't do what customer wants your name is mud. A business must have polices and stick to them.

This is exactly why I say the customer is always right, until he's wrong..... and he often is. Business has put the customer on such a pedestal that customers feel entitled to every little whim that blows a breeze up their pant leg. I saw it all the time with my Dad's dealership. He took care of his good regular customers and did what he could for most everyone else. Some people you couldn't do enough for. Some of them he told never to come back point blank.

Good customer service is addressing a problem. It is not giving away free stuff and gift cards and bowing to every crazy demand a customer delivers.

you were a distributor not a manufacturer, IMO, while it may have been an inconvenience for Pypes, it was apparently they had the ability to sell just one side. Have one extra one made at the fab plant to meet the customers request.

Now the fitment issue is another story.

There are only two things going on here, 1, something is really different with his car and it still won't fit, or 2, He has done something wrong, or over looked something and trash the first pipe for no reason.

This right here. I know it states the obvious, but this is the first I have ever heard of 05-09 parts not swapping out. (exhaust at least). It is possible it was a flaw in the header, but I still have a hard time accepting that knowing it fit the 06 with no problems.

I have JBA's and I have no issue with them. Install went just like instructions said and I have no complaints.

the only issue i had installing the headers on my 06 orginally was tightening the bolts...that took time...other then that it went right on like it was my bitch

I hate this for all parties involved, but the worst part for me is that the guy from Pypes said that they could sell the original purchaser a single header, but when it came down to it, they backed out of their original statement. Even though I do not feel that it is Pypes responsibility in this case, I do feel their attitude/customer service over this issue was pretty crappy.

Why sell him another header, if the first one would not fit, and second would be the same! There are only two things going on here, 1, something is really different with his car and it still won't fit, or 2, He has done something wrong, or over looked something and trash the first pipe for no reason.

In my mind since I was approaching the manufacturer they wouldn't end up with an open box. If it was a distributor then it would be different.

Emails...

I already figured this was the respone you would give. You should be pissed at the person who sold you the headers. If they were already installed on a vehicle then they should fit yours. If not, then the original purchaser could have returned them to us for warranty replacement. And while posting pictures and comments, please tell the truth about your situation. We can also post the series of emails for all to see. We did not sell you a used set of headers. Thanks and have a great day.

That's fine. I had already assumed that Pypes wasn't going to offer any support. I don't know what difference it makes whether or not I am the original purchaser. The Pypes name is still on the plate that is welded to the header... so when I am at shows or posting pics of my car on the internet and people ask me why I had to frankenstein one of the headers how do you think they are going to react when I tell them that it's a Pypes product. Regardless of what following story I tell them. In their mind your company is still branded with that image.

Now flip the coin. Pypes decides to provide excellent customer service and sell a guy who was open and honest from the onset a replacement header even though I bought them used. And I tell that story everywhere I go...

Thanks for your time.

Jeff Kresge

Unfortunatlly we can only sell sets. If you were the original purchaser ther could be a possibility of a single piece sale due to an accident. Hence why I would ask you specific questions. We manufacture in complete sets and must sell in complete sets.

Where were the headers purchased from?

Either way. I am now just asking if I can buy just the one header. I damaged it trying to make it fit my car. I am not asking for a free header to replace it.
As to why it fit the other car and not mine, I am not sure. That is what has me scratching my head. Unless there was some sort of chassis change between 06 & 09.

Damaged or used? You sent an email earlier stating you purchased a used set and now they didnt fit? Im unsure how they fit the first time. Our headers are only sold in sets. Do you have aa purchase receipt for the headers?

I think I said something to the effect of I damaged it trying to install it. LOL.

Subject: 09 Mustang HDR 55 fit issue

Good morning,
I bought a slightly used set of your long tube headers for my 09 Mustang GT. The passenger side would not fit at all, it contacted the motor mount plate, the K-member and the floorpan. I tried to make it fit but had no luck. I beat one of the tubes nearly flat and it still would not bolt up to the head without hitting the k-member. At some point was this a known issue with these headers?

Can I possibly buy a just new left side header?

Thank you,
Jeff

Jeff go somewhere else this type of customer service is par for this company. Every system purchased from this company that has been installed on my Mustang and others I know NEVER fit as designed. They will try and tell you they do but they don't. While at SEMA a few years back I tried talking to the owner and reps. About fitment issues and they all got really mad about what I was saying. Hopefully as the word gets out their sales will drop and then there GONE!
My two cents...........

I think this "manufacturer" buys the product from their fabricator/supplier built to their specs (i.e... a company in China that actually makes the parts). They're really just a distributor playing manufacturer.

This sucks man. I really think its something with your car too. Every piece of Pypes exhaust I've owned has fit perfectly. I've had a stock length mid-pipe, LTs and 2 axle backs go on without a hitch.

I guess I need to do my homework from now on. I thought they were made in the states. I am a cheap ass but I try to stick with American made products.

That is my understanding all so, I checked their web site and there isn't any mention about ( made in the USA) or there manufacture process.

I blame the little Chinese kid who made that header for this predicament.

Last year, brenspeed had a black Friday sale, and I bought a set of pypes lts. I waited till spring to install them. Driver Side went in easy. Passenger side was hitting the frame rail, not even close to fitting. I called brenspeed and they gave my pypes number. I called pypes and their first question was when I bought it. I told them the black Friday sale, and they told me a jig was out of whack. He said he had a shelf of passenger sides on a shelf waiting for these calls. Took my address and a few days later got my side. Fit perfectly.

Personally I have no issues with pypes. Your situation sucks, but Imo pypes doesn't have anything to do with it. They sold a set of headers that fit with no issues, they aren't responsible for anyone else down the line. Their emails were direct, to the point. And as far as I see it you started the threats with publicly outing them, what kind of response did you expect?

Sucks it happened, hope you get it worked out somehow.

I'm sorry not trying to be a prick. But you either: A: have something jacked up on your car or B: just couldn't install the part properly.
There is absolutely nothing that changed between 06 and 09 that would've prevented you from installing them.

Have you tried loosening the entire k member to see if it can be shifted slightly, there should be some play, maybe just enough you need.
