that is a viable alternative to the stockers. The spare tire and wheel weighs 29 lbs. compared to the stock 18" w/t that weighs 55lbs.

yeah but the spare is bia-plas if I am not mistaken. I went and bought a radial tire for them and just mounted them. Total cost with tires under 200 with extra rim.

I have the jegs as well and used the arp studs. I was only getting 4 to 4 1/2 turns with the lug and didn't feel comfortable with that. I measured it and there was only about 3/8" of stud sticking out of the wheel. That just didn't seem like enough. The studs changed very easy and it works great now.

The "aviation' answer for this is the bolt must protrude a minimum of three threads past the top of the fastener. If not you go to the next longer bolt. (or in this case stud.)

Just do what I am doing Joe....keep the stock 17's up front and put as a tire on there as skinny as you can go. Maybe 225's or 235's. Than just get some nice drag rims for the rear.

I have seen it done somewhere as well . Also here is the spare from a 1998 Lincoin town car and the bolt pattern appers to be the same but I have not bolted it on the car yet to be 100% sure.

If that works for you, please let me know. I honestly dont care what it looks like as long as it's functional and safe :D

or you could get a set of cheap factory rims and have them cut down.
I plan on doing this...

Cut down a set of 17x8 to 17x4

with these tires. 4.5/26.0-17 D.O.T. (185/65-17)

then the car will look good too

1st of all nice flame paint job!, 2nd just a heads up I would be weary of using that small of a tire for day to day driving. So I hope you have another set of rims. Also I dont know about cutting and welding the wheels. Some say it works but don't know that just makes to much that can go wrong.
