Oh, I agree. But I am taking this thing off the street for good in 2011 and making it a full race car, so I am looking at all options. But for a race car--it seems all the fast guys in the PSCA are running twins.

Just thinking down the road.

Always good to plan ahead. There really is no easy way to beat the twin turbo systems if they are legal in the class. Especially on a small tire car. They are easier to spool and will make more power quicker than a big single. With a simple boost controller you can dial in the car on just about any track. Plus, there's no killing the crank or bearings like a ProCharger race setup. Nitrous guys stand a marginal chance and that is only at 1/8th mile races.

Don't let anyone fool you into putting a 'glide behind a turbo mod motor either. They don't like the rpm drop between gears. A C4 won't live too long in a heavy car with race type horsepower (near or over 1000). The Turbo 400 or the race derivative Rossler 210 is a much better choice. The Rossler features the 2.10 low gear so you can launch the car on small tires without blowing them off. It is expensive though. The Turbo 400 can be used but you will have to juggle the rear gear in order to launch the car without tire spin.

I often wonder.....were there fewer idiots before the internet or is it just that now they have a worldwide stage upon which to show their idiocy?Either way.....most of those dipshits are going to be really pissed when they find out their precious fox bodied, carbed 347 w/nitrous hot rods are not legal due to the new class being EFI only. Fuck 'em. The Fox body was retired 15 years ago and the last car with a carb from the factory was 23 years ago. These cavemen would put a carburetor on the space shuttle if they could. Must be NASCAR fans too.

Which reminds me... I'd love to see NHRA Pro Stock switch to EFI. They mandate the use of a body style that is no more than 5 years old, but don't apply the same logic to the power plant.

I was thinking of building a "fox" body, are you saying should stay with an EFI motor?

Absolutely. So much more tuning options and much better driveability. The only reason most people go with a carburetor is because they cannot tune an EFI system or they think carb systems are cheaper.

Don....I actually got that quote from Warren Johnson. He said that several times about NHRA's technical committee.
