Also keep in mind, there are people with reviews of our products who have the opposite thing to say. Check out what "HellsBells" has to say about our brackets, compared to the competitors. He called me in disbelief, he could not believe how precise out brackets are built compared to the others he has tried. Same thing with "Casper GT"

As the person who installed the brackets with HellsBells, I'll tell you first hand the difference was night and day. The #1 tool used was not a hammer like the competitions brackets.

Kelly, still waiting on some Red Hammertone!

+1 here BMR brackets basically fell onto my car, no issues, no hammering etc...

Its times like this where I am glad I went with a 9 inch rearend with my build vs beefing up the 8.8.

Still, it just seems weird that happened with just a 125 shot. I have seen 8.8s take way more abuse on much higher horsepower cars. I guess sometimes its just luck of the draw. I wonder if he has had wheel hop in the past...that will screw things up in a hurry.

I'd love to see some pictures of his welds/breakage.

I do believe he was cutting some pretty good short times on spray, low 1.40's IIRC.

Stick cars are HARD on parts, especially when being aggressive.

Glad I saw this thread. I'm not going to the track until I get a brace.

The upr looks pretty simple to install. I wonder how much abuse the welded tabs will take? More than just welding the tubes? The other two are interesting. CHE looks like it will work pretty well but the reviews I've read make it out to be lacking in the bolt on fitment department. The swarr bar looks like it would work too.

Are there any more on the market? Anyone have a set of plans to make one? It doesn't look too hard to make up a simple brace going from the tubes to the housing.

No doubt man. The manual trans cars just hit the tires harder. Not sure if he was running a rear end girdle either. Also unsure if those are drag radials. I think he generated a perfect storm with his rear setup which lead to the failure.

I think he could have avoided it with a rear diff girdle, axle tube brace and bias ply tires.

Weatherman and I have been asking Kelly this same question since the begining of this thread. In return, the two of us asked only for a BMR T-Shirt. Bueller? Bueller?

Bruce, I had no trouble with mine. The two bolts under the diff housing were the only two the didnt line up perfectly. It wasnt hard to align them using a drift pin.

Luck of the draw must be part of it and not letting the car wheel hop is a big factor I would assume. I'm new to this forum and had never heard of anyone twisting the tubes in a medium power 8.8 car. I know the big power guys always weld and brace an 8.8 but I never felt it required at my power level. I didn't weld my tubes or use a brace and have consistently been at 1.40 60' for the last 2 years. I do use a BMR anti roll bar which may or may not help keep the tubes from twisting.

Currently I'm building a new narrowed 8.8 with 9" ends and welding the tubes on it.

What do you guys think of adding bracing from the tubes to flanges on the pinion housing? Thanks.

Not sure if BMR has rectified the issue, but I had mentioned to them years ago that their LCA relocation brackets were slightly off. The car required steering correction on straight, level road and measurements showed the rear axle was canted. I had another set sent and had the same issue. Taking the brackets off straightened the car out.

Disclaimer: BMR has done me no wrong and I have no malicious intentions with this post. Welding the axle tubes is probably perfectly acceptable, but this is just an FYI.

:2cents:

My rear axle is extremely canted. One wheel sits nearly a inch closer to front of car than other. It's getting dropped off at chassis shop to check for twisted/bent axle tubes. If they aren't twisted, it's gotta be the brackets for me too as well. I've also ordered a set of adjustable lca's just incase brackets are the off factor

I know the guy personally, 6k rpm launches on nitrous, plus a 6 spd manual plus, m/t et radial pro's equals wayyyy to much drive line shock. Bias plys may have been good prevention IMO
