Well the TH400 is finally into production and should be in the car within a few weeks. In addition to the new trans and continental converter, I am replacing the valve springs and just doing an overall valve job. These livernois heads have been outstanding and one of the very few things on my car that hasn't broke...lol regardless, two years is pushing it and even livernois agrees so new springs going in there and we'll clean everything else up.

I know there has been endless discussion on 'SPINNING' these 3V's but I have tried to stay out of it cause I just don't agree. I know what the comp, BBR, (and everyone else) cam profiles are and I know nobody is making a cam right now ground to make big power up high and I have yet to see anyone clay out a mold and see exactly what clearance you can do to see how big of a cam you can go. Anyway, that is another topic - the moral is I am going to keep my car with a rev limiter at 6800 and try to shift no later than 6500. If I need to play with anything to make up for traps, I'll do it in the gear. I just want to take as much of the VCT and tuning out of play as possible and build this thing to be CONSISTENT for my upcoming PSCA run this year.

I am also putting lock-outs on the car. I'm sick of VCT and don't care if I lose 10 HP, I want consistency and a solid valve train, so those are going in for shizzle. I'm hoping to keep my 3.73 gears, but we'll see what the new trans does on the dyno before selecting the right gear.
I am increasing my fuel and Nitrous jet up by 1 setting so that should increase my nitrous shot by about 25. I am also having a 3" 8 rib pulley made for my car.
(GI Joe, if you're out there - PM me - I may have a custom job for you:clap:)

With the 3" pulley, the extra 25 shot of juice and a now AWESOME trans, we'll see what she does and go from there. I should have some interesting ET's here in a few weeks...:thumb:

Sounds awesome! Are you pulling the heads and leaving the short block, or do you yank it all out? Can't wait to see your new times.

Sounds like a pretty brutal setup! Are planning to do any street driving on the TH400? or will your car be track only?

Have you been running w/o lockouts, or were you using limiters? With your set-up being race orientated, I'd agree that lockouts are the way to go.

I haven't been running lockouts or limiters but figure it's time.

I'l be driving the TH400 n the street but not that much and not that far. I'll drive it Irwindale but that's about for driving to tracks.

What happened to the be-all end-all stall converter you had just put in for your 4r70w ?

You must have an endless supply of money, constantly building that car and then changing what you just built.

I was curious about this as well. Seems like the 5r55 is holding up well in many instances, and the 4r70w is a stout piece when properly built...:popcorneat:

Ouch - don't worry about my money - worry about making your own...:321:

First of all, what info are you guys going off of that the 4r70 or 5r55 is bulletproof? What some shops 'say' they do?

I personally don't know of ANYONE who is running a 4r70 or 5r55 with 800+ HP and a transbrake without breaking it now and then.

I have rebuilt my 4r70 2 times and have been through 4 converters. The power I make and how I use it - no 4r70 or 5r55 is going to hold up for any length of time and that's just the nature of things.

Why keep rebuilding my 4r70? It is time for something better (and lighter) and the TH400 is a stout transmission and the continental converters are race proven.

Sure, some of the shops will tell you how great the 4r70 or a rebuilt 5r55 are - but let me ask you this - who the hell is using either consistently with 800+ off a brake with a screw blower?

Many of you guys don't have a clue how many parts, trans, engines, etc. shops don't tell you about breaking and replacing. You only get to hear about this or that number being run and about how awesome a part is - that's all your ever going hear.

I don't know what bullshit you are being fed, but with the exception of going from the 2.6 KB to the 3.4 whipple, I have never 'changed' a perfectly good set-up - I have only upgrade or changed when something broke or went to shit, or wouldn't work.

If you read any of my threads, you will know I burned through another converter and I said after I rebuilt the trans the last time that if anything went out in this trans again, I was putting a TH400 in there - so that is what I am doing. I'm tired of rebuilding transmissions every 50 passes.

When you (or anyone else) makes 800+ and can drive to the track and run 9's and drive home, then tell me what set-ups are the shit, until then - STFU about shit you know nothing about...:321:

It should be pretty sick if you are running mid 9's now you should be able to get into the 8's if all goes well with all the work your planning.

It's a nice thought, but I honestly don't think 8's are coming out of this car without cutting some big time weight first. I know how to get 300 lbs. off the car right now, but I just can't pull the trigger to take it off the street permanently.

I do think with this new set-up and dialing the car in, I should be able to get this car in the 9.1x' - 9.2x's and still be able to drive it on the street. I think that's doable and I'll be very happy with it for now...

Yeah, just one little step away, I'm beginning to feel more and more like a proverbial Lemming. Just lead us over the cliff, as we idly sit buy and watch it happen. It's starting to remind me of some other countries, Russia, China, Venezuela, and Nazi Germany in the 30's and 40's. Control the press, control the media, control the curriculum of the schools, and make having a Christian religious symbol anywhere near a government facility an you have the beginnings of the end. It's odd though that people let a Parade in San Francisco go on that would embarass the Devil himself. Enough ranting, I'm older and have antiquated ideas, I believe the Founding Fathers of this Nation would roll over in their graves to see how the Constitution has been perverted to the article of it's Country's demise.:2cents:

Too late... There just still working on the "final solution" to purge all of us wrong-thinkers... You know the government, it takes them a while to do anything, then it gets done wrong and you have to pay to remove the rubble from the first attempt, write a bunch of new laws and then pay to do it again...

All the while, the same assholes that screwed it up the first time are still in charge and still siphoning off money from the process...

Sad but true. It defy's logic to me that the #1 priority of the so called 'change' administration is worrying about closing Guantanimo it's first week in office.

yeah, that's a the 'priority' right now - we are in deep shit.
