Well your oil pump could be somehow going bad, you could have just a plain worn out engine. I used to have a 79 f150 with a 351m that'd idle hot @ 0psi.with 10w40. When I rebuilt it the clearances where like quadruple factory specs on rods and mains.

Do you know the history of the engine at all? I noticed it's a swapped in engine.

I don't know if you can monitor oil pressure via a data logger, I'd probably just temporarily install a mechanical gauge to keep track of it for a while.

I don't think a bad sending unit could do that, it's just a means for the computer to see what the actual pressure is. Oil pressure isn't controlled via the ecu. For the engine anyways, obviously the ecu controls oil pressure to the phasers. I think first I'd put a mechanical gauge and see for sure what's going on with your oil pressure.

I would think it has got to be a sensor or something electrical if restarting the car gets it to go away. If it is oil pressure I wonder if you drain a quart and then when it makes that sound dump the oil in and see if the sound goes away.
I am not all to famlilar with these engines but on my old stangs I would remove the valve cover and adjust the valves as it is running. Of course there is no adjustments to be made but maybe you can pin point the noise...better yet use the old screw drive trick and place your ear on the end of the handle of the screw drive and move up and down the valve cover to see where the noise is coming from.

What coil packs you using?

Stock.

It's starting to do it in a more consistent stage now.... I was thinking...

Could it be a vacuum leak possibly? Or o2 sensor?

It now only want to do this when settling to idle or under slow acceleration from a stand still or slow roll

Vacuum leaks are pretty easy to find. Get a spray bottle full of water and while the engine is running spray the engine with the water. Start with the passenger side and slowly work you way around the motor.
If it was an O2 sensor it would through a code.

I switched out my cams recently and had random hp/tq issues in the upper rpm's, crazy drops in the readings. The tuner told me he suspected the VCT solenoids, I took mine out and they looked just like yours, perfect. Found a set on e-bay for like $100 bucks @ freedom racing they are associated w/ brenspeed switched them out and problem went away

Hmmmm. I guess I'll try the vacuum leak first then just get solenoids if that's not it

Ok so it's happening more and more consistent. Probably because its getting hotter and hotter every day outside. It happened again, tried something new instead of shutting it off. I revved it up once. Went back down to idle and it's like nothing ever happened!!!! Wtf?!?! Also my friend says he can hear like a whistling sound when he's next to my engine bay.

I would pull the valve covers just to be sure...Vacuum leak wouldn't cause this--at least not that consistently. If you had a bad vacuum leak, it would struggle up and down the RPM range, yours just sounds like it goes full retard.

It does struggle. Especially if I'm under slow to medium acceleration
