Hey guys,

well i can't really decide what wheels i want to go with.

I'm a huge fan of lightweight parts / weight reduction (my WRX is the perfect example... 2800lbs with me in it :)) but all the lightweight wheels for these cars seem to cost a fortune!

I thought i had settled on 18x9 and 18x10 black chrome FR500s but after seeing that they weight about 30lbs i cringed and couldn't do it.. but these wheels go perfect with the way i did my car;

Redfire 05 GT
CDC blackout panel
CDC black billet grille
smoked front turn signals
20% dark tint

other options i looked at were the Steeda Ultralites but i'm not really sure on it, i dont know if i would like the way they looked as i LOVE wheels with a lip.

Huge fan of BBS wheels but i can't drop that kind of coinage when for that money i could turbo my stang hehe :D

any suggestions guys?

the car is a daily driver, i enjoy spirited driving and hit the dragstrip every weekend... best ET is 12.7 @ 111mph w/ 1.8 60ft on 255 kumho ecsta SPTs

This is true, but as 1lb of rotational mass is equal to 10lbs of dead weight in terms of acceleration, braking and turn goes.

i may just have to bite the bullet though, i've had this car for about 4 years now and its still on stock wheels lol

JEG's are ALOT cheaper, and are not much different in weight, in fact, Im sure the 15x8's JEGS may weight same or less than 15x10 Bogarts at a fraction of the cost...:evillaugh:

I went with WedsSport TC-005's. Light and strong..17-18 pound range for 18x9 or 18x10's. Lots of room for brake upgrades. They kinda look like GT500 wheels or a flatter FR500 (or TL Type-S if you're like my import friends..). You'll have to get the 10-inch wheels to get some lip on them.

On the up side, they're discontinued so buying them new for $400-500 each isn't really an option. After searching a while, I found a set of nearly pristine 18x9's on an Evo forum for under a grand..

On the down side, they're discontinued, so finding a set can be a real SOB.

Don't have installed pics yet, they're still sitting in my livingroom (ahhhh the single life!)...but if you google "mustang tc-005" there are some pics of another guy's car on TMS.

I like the way you think.. I just threw some killers on my car out of frustration as well. I'm hoping to do "the right thing" soon...

good find on those "living room" wheels! LOL

Yeah, they're stacked up between my GT500 brakes and watts link right now; I'll probably have coilovers sitting next to them soon. I think once I can't open my door all the way, that will be my sign that it's time to stop accumulating parts and start spinning some wrenches...

also, kind of off topic but dont want to start another thread,

Alls of done as far as maintenance goes on my car is oil changes. i just turned 25,000 miles.

I don't know if i should worry about the differential as when i put 4.10s in i changed the fluid but that was about 10k ago.

so basically, can anyone list to me what maintenance things i can perform to my car at 25k? the car has been beaten to hell and back (more passes down the 1/4 than i could ever remember lol)

Maintenance schedules are in the owner's manual.

Don't we all wish.. haha. but Steeda ultralites are fairly cheap and seem pretty lightweight. I think still around 21-23lbs as opposed to like 28 or so from my fanblades, if I'm not mistaken.

I have a question, if I drive my car with skinnies upfront and slicks out back on the street is it unsafe?

Like for a car meet, show up in my battle gear :)

I used to do it all the time in my 04.

It was ganster.....until it rained. I was using the cruise control going 25 mph. I used the cruise control button to accel and the car went sideways.
