An optimized car setup begins with the right wheel and tire fitment, and without model-specific attention, maximum performance is compromised. These wheels were developed exclusively for S197 and S550 chassis, and will work in either square or staggered applications. Most fitments are direct bolt-on solutions, however certain aggressive square fitments utilizing the 11” wide wheels will require spacers on the front axle for proper inner strut clearance. This not a compromised fitment, it is the only way to outfit an S197 or S550 chassis with the highly desirable true-rotatable 11” square fitment. Simply put, our wheels are designed for long-term durability without sacrificing performance and fit, while also adhering to APEX’s mission of maximizing value. Corner carving & track enthusiasts: this is your wheel. 100% OEM Compatibility No need to change your wheel bolts, center caps, or TPMS sensors. All APEX Mustang wheels were designed from the start to work with OEM 60º tapered hardware, which means both OEM lug nuts and aftermarket stud kits with the proper lug nut seat type will fit perfectly. All of our 5x114.3 Mustang wheels use a 70.5mm center bore, no hubcentric rings or adapters are necessary. All wheels come with gloss black APEX center caps, but you can also snap-in select OEM Ford caps for a more OEM+ look. All APEX wheels accept OEM and aftermarket equivalent TPMS sensors, and any standard-sized metal or rubber valve stem. Brake Clearance If the spokes or barrel of a wheel can’t clear your brakes, the wheel can’t be used at all. Spoke clearance is only half the problem. The barrel construction on a wheel also needs to be big enough to clear the sides of your caliper and rotor. Many aftermarket wheels that have aesthetic compromises in their design may work with smaller stock brakes, or smaller diameter big brake kits, but the larger kits will pose a major problem. The barrel of the SM-10 and EC-7 wheels offer unmatched caliper clearance because wheels shouldn’t limit your choice of aftermarket brake kits, and brake kits shouldn’t force you to run oversized wheels. We 2D modeled most Big Brake Kits available in Solidworks and tweaked the wheel design prior to production in order to fit as many kits as possible. Good news GT350 owners, these 19” wheels not only clear your massive Brembo brakes, the barrel to caliper clearance is quite impressive. 18” wheels clear a variety of aftermarket BBK’s as well as popular factory BBK’s like the S197 14” and 15” GT500 Brembo setups, as well as the S550 Performance Package Brembo kit. Weight Optimized We conducted extensive Finite Element Analysis to reinforce high-stress areas and to remove material where it didn’t improve strength. True VIA - JWL & Beyond Many companies promote their wheels as being certified by the VIA when they actually aren’t. That’s like using the USDA logo on food without permission. You are correct, and this is a great topic to touch on. Customers often ask, "What makes your wheel different than a number of other options out there?" These are the questions that every enthusiasts should be asking when in the market for new aftermarket wheels. The split 7 spoke mesh design has been offered by several wheel companies over the years, and that is simply due to it's ability to be strong, weight conscious, and clear a variety of massive factory and aftermarket big brakes. With that said, it is important to note that not all split 7 spokes on the market are created equal, even if they look similar at the surface. The genetic makeup so-to-speak can vary greatly from manufacture to manufacture, and this results in major differences in the final product you receive as a customer - how the wheel performs, endures repetitive abuse, what it weighs, how much brake clearance they provide, and more. Furthermore, many wheels offered to customers today are not crush tested to JWL standards and confirmed and registered with the VIA. We have offered our Flow Formed EC-7 design for over 8 years now, originally targeting the BMW community where it remains one of our top sellers. The classic mesh design can look at home on both past and present vehicles, and while many companies recycle wheel deigns from one vehicle platform to another, we understand that chassis specific optimization is necessary to ensure each "version" of the EC-7 we produce encompasses all of the important features that enthusiasts are looking for. This doesn't just mean changing the center bore and bolt pattern to provide a direct fitment for each vehicle platform, but also altering the genetic makeup of the wheel if need be to ensure the wheels fits properly and can withstand the added stress which may come with heavier chassis like the Mustang or Camaro for example. Our wheels were not simply FEA tested in a computer simulation, or in-house tested to an unregulated standard. We conduct real-world crush-testing and all of our wheels conform to Japan’s JWL standard, as well as being 3rd-party tested by the VIA. All of our wheels carry a 690KG load rating. We offer our EC-7's in three different face profiles, which all vary in spoke concavity to ensure brake clearance is never compromised due to width or offset changes in the wheel. The EC-7 is one of the few 18" Flow Formed, VIA JWL certified wheels on the market that can clear a Brembo 380mm BBK, S197 GT500 BBK, or S550 PP BBK without the use of spacers. Our 19" EC-7 provides GT350 owners with more caliper to barrel clearance than the factory wheels. These features are not necessarily consistent across all split 7 spoke mesh wheels on the market today. There are far too many wheel options out in the world from manufactures that focus their efforts on the design aspect of a wheel, and at the end of the day, that is not how we bring value to our customers. The design of our flow formed wheels lend themselves to proper brake clearance, weight and strength optimization, and load distribution first and foremost. Offering these designs in a wide array of widths and offsets that allows enthusiasts to run their desired tire size(s) and type without performing extensive modifications is key.
