For the GS4 phone (great imrovement from ip5) you will need a genuine Samsung Galaxy MHL 2.0 adapter. The Pioneer connectivity kit will not work on the gs3 or gs4 (I found that out after blowing $80 on the darn thing). The pioneer kit is a 5 pin connector whereas the gs3 and gs4 phones now use a 11 pin connector (far superior)
I only trust buying from manufacture as many have been counterfit and do not work worth crap if at all...

I "think" ARU can be used on the appradio 2 but not certain. ARL (Appradio Liberator) is expensive but I do know this setup works on the ar2 (appradio 2). They are now working only on updates etc for the appradio 3 (ar3).
For your new Gs4 you need to root the phone even for ARL.. Positive you need to for ARU (appradio unchained)..
To do this there is potential risk as you will have full admistrative rights (just like your home pc you can actually damage stuff in the cpu if get off the beaten path). You will need to become a "developer" on your phone first, then check the build version of your phone (firmware). Once you figure that out you then go to Ondin 3 (Odin version 3.07 i think it is..). Anyway you will download (free) the flash for your build version and folllow the steps to ROOT your phone.
That, download (free) superuser and rootchecker.. viola. SWEET!!!
I rooted my gs3 and gs4. Many apps these days require it, and you have many added benefits of doing this including getting rid of bloatware etc..
Nice. I used to jb my iphones but this is my first droid. Do u still have ur GS3? My wife wants to get one and get rid of the iphone 4S.
I know ARL is an actual app but this is the first I heard of ARU. Is this rooting OTA capable or do I need to dl it? I use a Mac.
And what else do I need other than the MHL adaptor? Im think it has a HDMI connector on it. But I want to b sure.
