For the GS4 phone (great imrovement from ip5) you will need a genuine Samsung Galaxy MHL 2.0 adapter. The Pioneer connectivity kit will not work on the gs3 or gs4 (I found that out after blowing $80 on the darn thing). The pioneer kit is a 5 pin connector whereas the gs3 and gs4 phones now use a 11 pin connector (far superior)

I only trust buying from manufacture as many have been counterfit and do not work worth crap if at all...

I "think" ARU can be used on the appradio 2 but not certain. ARL (Appradio Liberator) is expensive but I do know this setup works on the ar2 (appradio 2). They are now working only on updates etc for the appradio 3 (ar3).

For your new Gs4 you need to root the phone even for ARL.. Positive you need to for ARU (appradio unchained)..

To do this there is potential risk as you will have full admistrative rights (just like your home pc you can actually damage stuff in the cpu if get off the beaten path). You will need to become a "developer" on your phone first, then check the build version of your phone (firmware). Once you figure that out you then go to Ondin 3 (Odin version 3.07 i think it is..). Anyway you will download (free) the flash for your build version and folllow the steps to ROOT your phone.

That, download (free) superuser and rootchecker.. viola. SWEET!!!

I rooted my gs3 and gs4. Many apps these days require it, and you have many added benefits of doing this including getting rid of bloatware etc..

Nice. I used to jb my iphones but this is my first droid. Do u still have ur GS3? My wife wants to get one and get rid of the iphone 4S.
I know ARL is an actual app but this is the first I heard of ARU. Is this rooting OTA capable or do I need to dl it? I use a Mac.
And what else do I need other than the MHL adaptor? Im think it has a HDMI connector on it. But I want to b sure.

I've got an older pioneer, but all I need is the PAC unit to make the steering wheel volume etc work for my unit? Just ordered the Wheel today.

Its the item needed to hook between the steering wheel radio controls and the pioneer head unit.

I think I might sell my appradio2 and get a stock head unit again. Or mount Ahn ipad in my dash like I meant to do a year ago. I don't want to spend any more on this thing.

So OP, I want to know which of the buttons on the wheel work. I'm not exactly on the right side of the wheel.
Looks like:
volume (+&-)
seek (+&-)
voice & ok???
not sure what the other ones are.

If not all of those buttons work for the radio I'm going to try to hook them up to my eboost 2 and make it be boost mode switching. I think that would be pretty slick although I wish the extra buttons were by my left thumb.

Its just not as innovated as I would like. And I don't want to spend any more on it. I'll prolly seek it for cheap. It is a pretty nice unit but it's just not for me.

You'll need the PAC unit and also the two wpt440 connectors for an 05-09 car.

Check out this write up... the audio control part starts at #10.

The volume, seek, and music buttons work. I programmed the music icon to toggle between FM, ipod, pandora, etc. I feel pretty confident that it would be possible to get the other buttons all functioning, as there was only one wire connected to the Pac unit from the button cluster. It would take some more experimenting and sh*t, and I ain't got time for that. :yuck:

Good luck!!

Also got my hands on a 2010+ steering wheel emblem.. The original pries off with a small screwdriver(s). It takes some work to get it out for sure.. also I had to cut the tabs off the new one and epoxy it on to get it seated like factory. Completes the look IMO.

Cell phone pics....

Damn...those wpt fuckers are expensive...
Thanks for the other writeup Chris.

I'm an idiot....I ordered the SWI-JACK instead of the SWI-RC. I searched for it in Amazon and just bought the wrong one. Damnit....hopefully the company will exchange it.

What're did you get that emblem? I've been looking for one too.

Some fart knocker was selling them as center caps... he had no idea what he had.. and I have no idea where he got them from lol. So I have 4 of them, 2 of which I bent trying to install them like the factory one (with tabs). One of them has a very small dent in it.. and the other one is on my wheel, lol.

Good luck jodade! They should exchange it.. and yes those wpt things are horrendously over priced.

I want to know how that single wire going to the PAC controls all those buttons. I just got my wpt connectors, going to go at it soon.

This still blows my mind, because there were so many wires coming from that button cluster. So that one wire enables them to be illuminated and control the volume, seek, and music buttons. I couldn't get the other buttons like the voice control button to work, so I'm thinking there could be another way to get it working with one of the other wires. I didn't have time to experiment though lol.

Chris do you have a wiring diagram that shows which wire coming from the steering wheel harness is what. I count 6 wires coming out of the right hand side of the wheel while there is
1. Vol +
2. Vol -
3. Seek +
4. Seek -
5. Voice
6. Music
7. Phone
8. Ok

How do you get 8 commands out of 6 wires???

I can bypass the PAC when running my wires for the Boost Controller. I just need to get 2 of those 6 wires to one of the WPT connectors I guess right???

Ok so based on when 19cobra93's thread about this wheel, the buttons pressed change the resistance in the circuit.
