Who would of thought a mustang would have carbon brakes 5 years ago

yeah I am suprised the mustang is moving into a class where it gets stuff like carbon brakes and 259 front tires. part of what makes the GTs identity is that it comes at a blue collar friendly price. with those tires and brakes I smell some pretty intense maintenance cost.

The GT won't get that anytime soon. The SVT or GT500's will though.

They are trying to compete with the new Z28. It has ceramic brakes and 305 tires all the way around.

Damn that is a lot of buttons on the steering wheel

That's what happens when the major consumers of Ford vehicles aren't part of the technology generation used to touch screens. Ford has been forced to ADD buttons because people complained about using a touch screen in their vehicles. Now we have redundant controls for everything.

Not to be a dick by calling you out, but you should read the previous page.

Well damn you beat me to it. I don't follow this thread page by page since most is speculation of what everyone hears from someone that heard it by someone else.

No problem dude. :thumb2: I try to bring informed discussion and actual pictures to this thread rather than opinion and conjecture.

did not know that either. never looked into it.

wait, doesn't the GTR have carbon brakes and that thing has regular brake service intervals. along with a brake job bill that cost about as much as another car.

Carbon brakes last about a million times longer than metal ones.
This. I have read statements from Brembo that CCB's in their estimation will last around 95,000 miles in typical, or spirited street driving, and around 2,400 miles of "track" events. If you brake that down and realize that the average weekend roadrace guy can go through a couple sets of pads in a weekend and a set of rotors anywhere from once a weekend or every other weekend depending on how hard they are on brakes, the extra cost of the CCB's really become a wash.

Any corner carvers care to share what they spend on brakes in a given weekend, or your total cost for brake parts for the year?

This doesn't even touch the superior performance aspects of CCB's. Lighter weight, ability to withstand extreme brake temperatures without any apparent fade, and ability to stand up to abuse make it a no brainer if I had the option and weren't building a dedicated drag car.

On-stick flight controls??? LOL

I big part of it is lots of people are not using the voice controls either. The whole objective is to have common repeat tasks readily available so the driver is not distracted by using features of the car.

I guess speaking proved to be too challenging for most. hahaha
