I'm going to take one for a ride some day soon, but I have zero intention on buying one.

I hate first run cars. I like to give em 2 years to work the kinks out. The problem is it seems like every two years starting with the New Edge, they just have to keep fucking with them.

They did with SN95 to a subtle change in 03/04. Then changed radically in 05/06. Changed in 07/08. Made a 09, 09.5 and a 10... all different experiments before the cut-over to the, Coyote. Then changed radically in 11/12 with a Coyote and all the body mods... then all the stuff for 13/14. Then the cycle begins again for 15.

That is general. 99 to 04 does encompass the "New Edge" line, but for 99-02 compared to 03-04 there were subtle body and engine changes, like going from the 3.8 to the 3.9 in the 6 banger and a torque bump in the v8 do to some minor internal engine changes.

05-06 also has slightly different heads and engine/trans cooling compared to 07-08. The computer systems OS revision completely changed too.

2009 was a crazy year with some cosmetic and tuning changes between the base GT and the 45th anniversary edition and the 2009.5 Iacocca.

10 was all by itself, then 11-12 and 13-14. Lots of changes over the years bro.

IMO the 07,08 and 09 models were simply refinements on the 05-06. This is not redesign, but simply tweaking and resolving existing issues. Like you, I tend to stay away from the first two years of major body redesigns as well as new engines. My 02 F150 was the 5th year of that body style and virtually all the major prior issues were resolved. Same with my 09 Mustang Bullitt. The hood corrosion issue, the crappy alternator, the two piece spark plugs, all resolved by the time my car was built.
