Do the dust covers just pressure fit on there or is there something you have to use to get them to stay in place?

Best way to do rears? Pull the axles and use a press.

I took my axles to the local Make, Model & Year store and they did all of them for me for $20. I'm lazy.

You're not so lazy that you'll pull your axles, but you're too lazy to swing a hammer and then turn a wrench? Hmm...

Correct. :)

This was in my '89 notch though, and the axles were already out for another project. Don't get me wrong, I've done the "hammer and wrench" method before, but now I'm old(er) and lazy. :)

One more thing to add - removing the hub means you must also replace the spindle nut. And tighten it down to 1 billion ft. lbs. or whatever the spec is.

Thanks to the OP for this thread.
That stud installer tool works great ! Worth the 24 bucks.

As far as hammering out the studs...I was nervous about pounding on the hub and I will probably never know if I did damage to the bearings, but I took my crowbar and pulled on it to apply some pressure on the backside before tapping on the studs.
I tried to tap as easy as possible and still get some movement.

Maybe not the correct way to get them out, but...

Then I used the crow bar and rubber sleeves over the studs to prevent the hub from turning when tightening down the tool. Took about 20 minutes for all 5 studs.

So for 147 bucks ( studs and tool shipped) I now have the front wheels legal. :)
