The write up did indeed take a couple hours, but I'm hopeful it will inspire someone else to tackle the job. TOB's thread on SVTP about how to do the power Recaro swap is what inspired me, so I wanted to contribute something. I predict very few folks will tackle this project due to the cost and difficulty. I have over $3600 in it, but I predict this will be my favorite mod to the car. I also think I will hands down have one of the nicest Coyote mustangs in Arizona. :)

I paid $800 for the Shelby takeoffs, front and back. You can get all-black ones for cheaper, but I wanted a white-stripe set which is a little more rare and a little more money.

I want the ones with red inserts. If anyone comes across a set for the regular seats let me know.

Looking good. I would like to get a set of those front Recaros for mine... I just don't feel like dropping $2,000+ on seats and losing my power options.

Everything is looking awesome so far! You are as detail oriented as I am when I'm doing mechanical work on my car and I love it!

A little trick to perhaps help you next time you stencil your calipers. In the Army, we had to stencil just about everything at one time or another and I got anal about rough edges. So I brought a can of PAM cooking spray to work with me. We were stenciling our civilian TMP vehicles. I sprayed a Q-Tip with the PAM, then blotted the excess off with a paper towel. I made very sure to get the edges of the inside of each letter/number where the paint typically sticks to the stencil causing the rough edges around the lettering when the stencil is removed. Then, I also applied it to about 1/8 on the face of the stencil, front and back outward from the letters/numbers. The stenciling went perfect after that and you can just imagine the cheap ass painted the Army gave us to do it with.

The first time I did this, I just sprayed PAM on a paper towel and wiped the whole stencil down. However, that caused the paint to trickle down too easy. So by using the above method, it worked out great.

Good luck on your next stenciling attempt!

That's the thing, you don't have to lose your power options - just do the swap like I did. Then you can be the only cool kid on the block with power Recaros.

Frank - THANK YOU for the advice, I think I'll try that. I really want to stencil the lettering on instead of using sitckers, and I want it to be perfect. If it's not, it will bug me forever.

Too late for that... The Shelby has Recaros lol.

Yeah, but not power/heated/adjustable lumbar ones! LOL :moon:

Anyway, I just did a quick oil change. Now I'm gonna start on the driver seat. This will probably take the rest of the day. Wish me luck!

I'm trying to get my mods wrapped up for this year. My little girl will be here March 17th, so she will be getting all my mod money for awhile lol. Plus I'm buying a bigger home so
I'm fucked for the rest of the year on mod money.

Got the in today. This was quite a bit of work, and even more money. However, the end result is worth it. I wonder if anyone else has done power / OEM heated Recaros yet? If not, hopefully someone will take the writeups by TOB and me and tackle it for themselves.

So a quick wrap up... Here's the breakdown of what it took to do this:
- OEM "Comfort Package" with dual power/heated seats
- (2) Upper and (2) Bottom seat heater pads from Tousley - ~$310
- FRPP Cloth Recaros, I paid $2500 private party. The best I've seen is about $2800 new
- Shelby Leather skins, I paid $800 from Rehagen because I wanted white stripes, which are a little more rare than all black
- About 20 hours of work total I think. You may be able to do it more quickly... I'm slow.
- Various small prying tools, trim tools, picks, screwdrivers, torx driver, 13mm and 15mm sockets
- Lots of patience and attention to detail

Everything works just like factory. The support on these seats is NIGHT AND DAY different from my stock 401A seats. They are so much more comfortable and supportive, and having the adjustable lumbar swapped into the Recaro is nice. It's a little soon to tell, but I have feeling this will be absolute favorite mod on the car. Having a nice seat and a nice steering wheel makes all the difference in a car - especially if you drive it daily like I do. I'm thrilled with the result. The heated seats are really nice too, except on a day like today where it was 85* in Phoenix while the rest of the country is under feet of snow and ice.

Overall, if you have the means, I highly recommend it.

Here's a pic of my new front mudflaps.

...and my new rear splitters.

This car has so many wings, it should be able to fly!!

I have been watching your thread for awhile and you have really done a nice job on your Mustang! Rare to see all of this extra detail added when most of the time people just focus on adding just HP to there car and nothing else.

I am curious, the Recaros since you have owned now both set of seats how is the head rest position on them? As I was super close checking them off on my build list when I ordered my Mustang but was really concerned on a long drive without them being adjustable I would find them uncomfortable.

Thanks man. I wanted to start with a really nice car, then make it better. Even at SEMA, lots of the cars are base model GTs that they build up.

As for the headrest position, it's WAY better than my non-adjustable 2011 headrests. Those were horrible, and pushed your head forward to an uncomfortable position. These are much better. I tend to rest me head all the way back against the rest when I cruising home from work in gridlock traffic, so this will be a big improvement for me.

Haha. I know, I know! Everyone gives me shit for those tires. It was one bad decision from being drawn in by a cheap price! LOL

I'll fix it. I promise. But Michelin Pilot Super Sports in 305/30/20 are $422 each. :(
