This has been really bad timing for San Diego to have a wet winter... :angry1:

The latest update from the builder is that they have held off again on digging utilities with all of the rain this week. Rain is also expected next week which will also cause more delays on digging utilities. It will take about a week and a half to have electrical meters set which will give them permanent power for construction... we just need some good weather. About all that has happened is that the house has the lines snapped (in preparation of framing), but the lumber drop is being held off until utilities are completed.

Aren't you always bragging about how great the weather is in CA where you live?
Yep, and it's still better than anywhere else. Winter is normally the "wet" season here, but it's above normal this year. And the big problem isn't that it has been raining constantly or anything like that, its that it will rain one or two days, then not for the next 4 or 5. And just as the dirt starts to dry out, it will rain again. It's just annoying.

Our average annual rainfall is about 10.75 inches, and we already have 8+ inches this year. And we still have all of March, usually one of the three wettest months. Hell, back in 2007, we only had 3.6" for the whole year.

Sorry to hear about the fluke weather Don. Wish there was some way we could take that rain though, we are 8" below normal, and thats just going back to December.

Not really. It's gonna suck if we dont get some rain before summer hits. Burn bans, water bills out the whazooooo, and no 4th of July fireworks. Big displays will still go though.

Well, I got a little good news on the construction progress today. After the heavy rains this past Monday, it has been clear all week, and looks to stay that way for the next 7 to 10 days. So, in addition to the chalk lines being snapped for the framing, the electric trench has been dug, and the panels are in place. It looks like there should be power soon, and then they can start making sawdust!

Make sure they have grounding for cable also, and not just for phone. You'll want the to be able to ground the cable in the panel, if not your have a ground wire leading to your fuse panel (ugly looking).

Also make sure the contractor has conduit leading to the house for your cable. They/you might need to call TWC also.
Once they have the conduit in, I can run you a RG11 drop.

Thanks Ed. I did see a ground running to a large bolt in the concrete, but I didn't see what it was attached to. I'll look again next time I'm over there. The good news is that those walls will be open for a while, and you'll get to see it up close and personal before they get drywalled in. :hi:

As far as conduit goes, I saw two lines running from the curb to the boxes. Maybe one is for power and the other for cable????

They are supposed to deliver the lumber at the end of this week... so we should see some framing happening in March.

The “lumber drop” occurred today, so hopefully Stonefield will begin plating and standing walls in the next week or so. As has been explained to us, the framers will work on the seven homes in our group in an “assembly line” fashion. While framing is one stage of building there are several different operations involved in "framing". Each specific operation will have a specialized crew performing each operation. Below is a list of various operation crews.

• Snap Line Crews
• Plate Crews
• Header Crews
• Frame Wall Crews
• Plumb and Line Crews
• Beam Crews
• Floor Crews
• Floor Sheeting Crews
• Truss Crews
• Sheet Roof Crews

Awesome news!

When we were having our house built it was very exciting when we got to this point. It is still some time before it is done, but the progress and time seems to go much faster!
