Find me a 10 sec car to drive and I bet I will best the owners ET.
Cash money.

Re-quote it I changed the bottom pic!

Obviously he's king shit and nobody is better since he can beat anyone's best ET in their car. Have you ever been in a car making over 500hp where any of this stuff even comes into consideration? My car shifted fine prior to being supercharged and I do like manuals, then that's when the engine/tranny torqueing made it very rough to shift with the remote linkage since the twisting mis-aligns it.

For a daily driver street car that occasionally visits the track a manual is fine but once you get to higher power and faster ETs the auto will likely take the manual 90+% of the time. It's not because people aren't as good as you at driving...... conceited much?

Yes I am, because I can back my shit talk up.
I've seen great drivers beat auto's all the time.
Torque over? put the right mods on, you'll be OK.
I don't see people in GT500's bitching about not being able to run a good time with their trannies and that's over 650hp.

I do all the time. Two friends with GT500s at the track last time I ran. One with drag radials and axle back running 13.5s all night. Couldn't launch, couldn't hook worth crap. Other one was running 13.7s all night. My slow crappy auto intake/tune 5.0 was running 12.2s all day. I've never been to the track and had a manual car within a second of my auto car. I'm sure they exist, but I don't run into them.

For a 300-500 car on good tires, a good driver can handle a manual just fine. Get into 800+rwhp cars and there is no way a good driver is keeping up with an auto car. If you just want a stock/bolt on coyote and never make decent power get whatever. If you want to win races, or build a fast car, get an auto.

When we say track you mean 1/4 mile, no turns just straight ahead correct? We all know there are many other forms of racing other then that. So in essence if you mean autos are better at drag racing, for which i would agree with those that stated as such. However since drag racing is not the ONLY form of racing, in fact many more types involve turning, upshifting, downshifting and precise control of the input of power to the terra firma I would have to disagree that an auto would be better in those situations. The consistency you get from a computer controlling your shifts are going to be better then most men can perform is perfect for drag racing.

I am talking about street cars here, 300-500 is the range I am thinking.
Not shocking that a 800hp car would benefit from an auto.
I also wouldn't say I would beat any auto, just saying skill is a HUGE part and people complain instead of working on it.

Around here 800 is just getting into the fun street car range.

Yes, for an auto-x/road course car, you want manual control. I wont say a manual, but a way to tell it what gear to be in. That could be a traditional clutched tranny, a dual clutch, SMG, paddle shifted, etc.

Ahem what about tiptronic ???
That's the best and you can do that with select shift on 2013/14 and 2015 will have paddles like Ferrari etc.

Torque converter(multiplies torque)
Clutch only 1:1 tq
Converter locks up like clutch at higher speeds for same or better fuel economy than manual
My car with mods in sig below gets 25mpg can't say a stick would do that with my mods. 6r80 is a beast and ratios in it are awesome

Mileage and racing should never be mentioned in the same breath or sentence. That being said I still believe a manual is best for road racing. Just like a auto is best for the attributes that make a good drag racing setup. Again just my opinion and feel free to disagree. I prefer to a manual for how and where I drive. I drive mostly windy mountain roads to and from work.

Those GT500 drivers should be ashamed. I ran a 12.8 @ 5800 DA the last time out and was launching on all-season Michelins, lol. I have found that most (not all) GT500 owners are horrible drivers. Mostly hard parked garage queens.

If you enjoy a challenge and being more connected with the car, get a manual. If you want to mash the pedal down and score some easy times, auto. Just my opinion.

I had plans to, however, I got a killer deal on a trade so decided it was better to upgrade platforms than to start really dumping money into the car. The car didn't have a built engine and I had seen the boost get as high as 12 so I knew that I was either going to have to build the engine or take a good chance on it blowing and likely get a better transmission or just go with a new auto.

The new auto transmissions from what i've heard are good for 700+ hp with absolutely nothing needed unless you just want a torque converter. It made more sense for what I wanted to do so I done it and i'm happy with it. A new auto coyote with a tune and just a couple (not fully modded) bolt-ons will easily run in the 11's. Last time I was at the track most of the bolt on stangs were running in the 13s and not close to what I could do with my tune/pipe only auto. To each his own, I won't argue the whole driver part with you because you obviously have a very high opinion of yourself and it would be like talking to a wall.

My buddies pullied/bolt-on 2010 GT500 with Cobra Jet Rearend and full suspension on drag tires and makes more power than my N/A auto Coyote and he is a NHRA licensed driver that can row gears and I have ran faster on my old shitty tune than he has.
We will both be at track tonight on drag tires we will see what works best ;)
I have a feeling the transbrake auto will win :)

My 380rwhp, intake tune street tire coyote in ~5000da ran 12.2s so that just further proves my point if you want to go fast at the drag strip get an auto. I enjoy the challenge of beating other cars.

I didn't disagree that an auto yields better times, was just saying those GT500 owners should be ashamed of running those horrible times.

12.2s @ 5000da is moving! The other coyotes at the Tucson strip I was at were all in the 14s with one running a mid 13. DA is a heartbreaker.

Unless the 6R80 shifts like a GTR, I can't fathom how an auto would be faster than manual from a roll. Of course if the manual drivers misses shifts, that's a whole another story.

don't the 6r80s have "select shift" so the driver can control the gear ?
