Nick, for your goals, I'd say get the auto.
Find me a 10 sec car to drive and I bet I will best the owners ET.
Cash money.
Re-quote it I changed the bottom pic!
Obviously he's king shit and nobody is better since he can beat anyone's best ET in their car. Have you ever been in a car making over 500hp where any of this stuff even comes into consideration? My car shifted fine prior to being supercharged and I do like manuals, then that's when the engine/tranny torqueing made it very rough to shift with the remote linkage since the twisting mis-aligns it.
For a daily driver street car that occasionally visits the track a manual is fine but once you get to higher power and faster ETs the auto will likely take the manual 90+% of the time. It's not because people aren't as good as you at driving...... conceited much?

I do all the time. Two friends with GT500s at the track last time I ran. One with drag radials and axle back running 13.5s all night. Couldn't launch, couldn't hook worth crap. Other one was running 13.7s all night. My slow crappy auto intake/tune 5.0 was running 12.2s all day. I've never been to the track and had a manual car within a second of my auto car. I'm sure they exist, but I don't run into them.
For a 300-500 car on good tires, a good driver can handle a manual just fine. Get into 800+rwhp cars and there is no way a good driver is keeping up with an auto car. If you just want a stock/bolt on coyote and never make decent power get whatever. If you want to win races, or build a fast car, get an auto.
When we say track you mean 1/4 mile, no turns just straight ahead correct? We all know there are many other forms of racing other then that. So in essence if you mean autos are better at drag racing, for which i would agree with those that stated as such. However since drag racing is not the ONLY form of racing, in fact many more types involve turning, upshifting, downshifting and precise control of the input of power to the terra firma I would have to disagree that an auto would be better in those situations. The consistency you get from a computer controlling your shifts are going to be better then most men can perform is perfect for drag racing.

Yes I am, because I can back my shit talk up.
I've seen great drivers beat auto's all the time.
Torque over? put the right mods on, you'll be OK.
I don't see people in GT500's bitching about not being able to run a good time with their trannies and that's over 650hp.

Those GT500 drivers should be ashamed. I ran a 12.8 @ 5800 DA the last time out and was launching on all-season Michelins, lol. I have found that most (not all) GT500 owners are horrible drivers. Mostly hard parked garage queens.
If you enjoy a challenge and being more connected with the car, get a manual. If you want to mash the pedal down and score some easy times, auto. Just my opinion.
My 380rwhp, intake tune street tire coyote in ~5000da ran 12.2s so that just further proves my point if you want to go fast at the drag strip get an auto. I enjoy the challenge of beating other cars.
