Can someone explain to me WHY people use there turn signals when turning into the return road?
Sometimes I do... when the other car is behind me, and I have to cross his lane to turn off. I want to make sure he knows I'm turning in front of him.

I've been trying this in my winter beater car, it's not easy to get over the mental pattern of letting off the gas. I've heard that this will shorten the life of your transmission, any truth to that?

Racing in general will. Shifting methods...eh...not so much. The clutch should give before parts break.

I had an RX-7 that I raced almost every weekend for 4 years. I would power shift every time. I went through a clutch every 3 months, but my syncro's held out for about 160,000 miles before they needed to be replace.

I know we arn't talking about RX-7's here, but I think that transmissions have improved compaired to 1984... LOL

I have my rev limiter set at 6500. I have my shift light set at 6000. I don't hit the rev limiter unless I miss a shift, but that hasn't happened in awhile.

This is the last time I'll ever brag about not missing any shifts. Last Friday, I couldn't shift to save my life. I was just having a bad day over all. Here's a video illustrating my superior shifting skills. While you can't see me shifting, you can hear the stellar job I did.

Well I agree with the 5 steos except one of them. Do not I repaeat do not push the clutch all the way to the floor. This defeats the purpose of P/S because you are loosing just as much time as you would if you lifted the gas. You should just kick the clutch with your foot hard and fast. It should feel like your in an auto. if you move back and forth in the seat then it was not fast enough. Ill try to post some vids as soon as the rain clears up.

+1... I would love to get a great in-car setup, but have no idea where to start.

is it atleast as good as the quality they show in the sample videos? If so, I can make it work for what I need to do.

Run the video I posted in this thread in full screen and that will give you an idea. It was with this camera mounted on my bumper. When it was shooting through the windshield the quality was even worse.

ive ran a best of 13.3 completely stock without power shifting. im not sure what good it does to powershift if you can do it just as fast with letting off the gas pedal....maybe ill run faster if i powershift

I ran slower every time I try to power shift. We'll see what happens with this new clutch...

I actually got a pretty cool setup. I found this "high def" camera at bestbuy for 100. I then bought a GPS window mount and stuck it to the back window for a few runs. I will post the videos tomorrow if i can. Internet is slow where I am right now. Sorry about the threadjacking. I will start a new thread for it.
