DSS Aluminum Drive Shaft

I have a 3650 and will be switching to either a 6060 or T56 once funds become available. If I put in an aluminum 3" DS now can I use it when I upgrade tranny?

I was able to use my Dynotech when switching from 3650 to 6060. Can't help you with dss. A t56 needs a different setup that is unique to it. A splined ds goes into the tailshaft instead of bolting a u joint on like a 3650 or 6060.

The shop that did my 6060 install had my DSS shaft shortened 3/4" locally. Works perfectly.

Brian is correct, there's 3/4" difference between the 3650 driveshaft and the 6060 driveshaft. If you get the T56 Magnum then the kit comes with the correct driveshaft (Dynotech brand), which is almost a foot shorter and one end is different.

Used DSS driveshafts are fairly easy to sell as long as they aren't banged up. Keep the box when you buy it.

Bruce did you use the 6061 3.0 from dynotech?

They only had one when I bought mine in 2008. It was a 3.5" aluminum.

When I did my 6060 swap, I had to get a GT500 driveshaft (opted out of aluminum at the time) the 3650 driveshaft wouldn't have worked... is the Dynotech an in-between that works on either?

It has a sliding splined shaft. There was enough room for it slide in or out.

Got it! That's beneficial! I got too good a deal on the trans and driveshaft to even consider aluminum at the time, I spent more on the clutch than the combo, as such I hadn't researched alternative driveshafts..
