Actually the highest gear you have is the best. First gear multiples torque to the rear wheels, by doing that you can actually move the car by trying to break the crank bolt loose. Yes but this way you can drop the K-Member enough to pull the pan.Thanks peter. I have the doc but i cannot remove the oil pan without lifting or pulling the engine as it is not the stock pan, but a moroso 7qt pan. I was gonig to pull the cam cover first, then check the cam caps, then pull the timing cover and check the oil pump

Do you think maybe a hunk of silicone was at the bottom of the pan.
it's only 8 bolts holding the K member to the chassis + 2 bolts holding the engine to the K member. Rent or borrow an engine bar or engine hoist for a couple of days.
